Hiya bought this a couple days ago from a fossil and gem store wanted to know if it was legit -
This is a wonderful forum and I am pleased to find it. I have a fossil that needs to be ID'd. I found it in Philo, CA in Mendocino County, USA There were very large rock cliffs full of rocks near the Navarro River. It looks like a tail bone of a tiny creature. And maybe a skull? It is egg shaped. What caught my eye was the consecutive dashed. Not sure it if it is a tail. Thank you for your efforts ladies and gentlemen. Regards, Ted

I found this tooth fragment in the ocean while vacationing at Englewood, Florida. I need help determining if this is in fact a tooth fragment and what animal it may have came from. My money is on Equus. Thank you

I’m a landscape gardener and I recently put down some gravel for a customer and found these through the gravel along with a lot of Gryphaea Ino one of them is a fossil of a shell but it looks diffrent and is black and the other 2 don’t look like rocks so would love some help to id them

Hey there! I need some help identifying this shark jaw that I received as a gift a few years ago. All I know about it is that it came from Isla Mujeres, Mexico. Its about 23 centimeters in width and about 8 centimeters from the top of the mouth to the bottom, my apologies for how gritty the pictures are, my phone camera is not the best.

I found these pieces over past year and half and have just gotten around to IDing them. I can’t find anything on the internet or my book on what these are. They are from the Mississippian as I’m from west Michigan. It seems they attach to things as oneI found on a horn coral. One in the picture seems to have shell on the bottom as well. An ID would be awesome because these have been a headache for me! Thank you!

Hello everyone, found this mysterious tooth in a cretaceous stream in New Jersey. Haven't come across any similar or anything I can really compare it to, plus its kinda worn. Which doesn't help but the leaf-like shape alone is very interesting, hopefully this one can be figured out.

My 9 year old daughter found this in an Alabama creek bed over the weekend. I have no idea if it is just an unusual rock or some kind of fossil. It is about 7 inches long. My daughter was hoping someone here could tell her if it is just a cool rock or an actual fossil. Thank you!

Aloha! Planning a short trip to California before I move further away, I was always fascinated by fossils. Are there any dig sites in California that rent out tools? I would love to find a trilobite or ammonite! Any tips would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

I purchased a bulk collection of ambers (Baltic and Dominican) from a collector looking for some spare cash. Along with it she included a Geocoma carinata fossil. I admittedly don't know much about fossils. But a few red flags have caught my eye post-purchase not about the amber specimens but the fossil. She is a reputable collector and once owned a store in the area I live in. I guess the first sign is that the information she gave me had the name spelled incorrectly. Receiving this gorgeous but mysterious specimen is from Upper Pennsylvanian limestone dated around 290-300 million years ago from somewhere around Kansas City. Looks like a tooth to me and my best guess would be orodus? But I have little experience with Pennsylvanian shark teeth in general and especially from this area, also cannot find a comparison elsewhere online. Any help will be appreciated.

I recently acquired a small collection; and most specimens were well described....except for a few specimens that at least had age, locality etc .......the attached specimen containing two crinoids and calyx had VERY little information at all. I believe it may be from Illinois, as this was the only information supplied with the specimen. Any help with identification would be greatly appreciated.

I found this in my garden when I was digging out an invasive weed. I was keeping some interesting stones in a separate pile to add to stone edging I have around a garden bed. I saw it, and even covered in soil, it looked interesting. I removed some dirt and saw it was really lovely. At first I thought it would be porcelain. After I removed more dirt I realized that it isn’t. Both sides are truly beautiful. It looks like a mushroom to me - the detail is amazing! Hello, My son found this large piece of petrified wood on a ranch here in South Texas. It is a large piece and weighs about 70 LBS. The bark is a nice blue color. We noticed an unusual print on the wood and are hoping we can get help identifying it. The imprint is deep in the wood and appears to be a set of three. The wood was found laying flat just below dirt level with the print side up. I will include photos. Thank you for your feedback!!

I hope its okay for me to ask for a few IDs before buying fossils. Here they are. With the lot with a lot, I see the nautilus shell is a cool buy and adds value to the lot. But I am unsure if the rest are cool fossils, or just some modern day horns and bones. To me it looks alot of modern stuff. Thanks for the help guys. Lately, just been buying some collection pieces while im stuck in quarantine :).

Found this in my backyard where I’ve also found another coral. I live in south Florida about 20 mins from the beach from the Atlantic Ocean. Not sure what kind of coral this could be. I’m also very curious about the hole because it seems to have been made. Any suggestions are welcome thank you.

Unknown Rare New York Trilobite Pygidium Undescribed??? Lichid?

Today on a hunt I found on of the most unusual trilobite pygidiums I've ever seen from new york and cannot find anything out there to compare it to. Unfortunately the site is imported material from an unknown quarry upstate so all I do know is that its from the Devonian of New York based on other material found there, unfortunately I cannot attach a formation to this one. Also its also fragile and a very partial piece thats unpreped, I think its a ventral display. This maybe a head scratcher so maybe the trilobite experts here can help weigh in on what this can possibly be. -
I hunt Eocene era Marine fossils in South Alabama. I have found a ton of thins but this one has me stumped. It's roughly 1½ inches long, ⅜ of an inch thick, and ⅜ of an inch tall (Sorry no metric ruler). On one edge, it appears to have small pointy teeth while the other side has some what of a channel. I've been able to identify most of what I have but I need some help on this one...

Let’s try this again. Need some help identifying this tooth & jaw fragment I found in the peace river area. It has 1 perfect tooth with a second tooth on the opposite side split in half. Has me very stumped!
