Hi y'all! Found this in Northern Phoenix area and was hoping for a potential ID. It is about 5-6in long, 3in wide, and 1.5-2in tall. Took it for a cool rock until I began seeing patterns within the pits and thought maybe it is a cool fossil instead? Also, not until I began taking photos of it did I notice it resembles a snake's head. Obviously it is most likely not that, but does really look just like one from the right angle. I can't even seem to get my brain to unsee it now that I saw it. lol!! Thanks for any thoughts or ideas you may have on this one!

I'm pretty new at this, my main hobby is fishing, but since I spend a lot of time in the cliffs or simply at the sea side, I started collecting some fossils a long the way. This are some of the finds Any help Identifying them would be great (:

I found this on the banks of the Mississippi River in Illinois. So I don’t know where it originated. So I can’t help with age or formation or even a general location. I posted on a couple fossil pages on Facebook and going to try here. Any help will be great. Rough size is in pictures but they are 7.93 mm wide and 6.31 mm tall roughly. If you have questions I’ll try to answer them the best I can. Thank you

Pretty much the title- i have an ammonite i split recently. I started prep outside using safety a dremel 290 and wearing goggles and a paint respirator, worked for maybe an hour in total- but then i read about safety on zoicpaleotech and got terrified of getting/having given myself silicosis. Now i’m struggling to find the proper type of protection to continue- i cant find the one mask they suggested on the website, and i dont know how to pick a good one that will protect me against silica and other stuff. Any good suggestions?

Have a piece of matrix with urchins on it. But they are on a thin bit of matrix that seems to be raised up bit from the rest of matrix. Was wanting see if there was something should do to help protect it or just leave if as is. The edge of some areas of the raised part are very thin seem like could flake. The raised up middle area seems to be all the way around the matrix but no on the 1 side. Will add photos best could to try show raised up parts. #1 #2 #3 #4 #5

Is this a rock or a rock with a fossil in it???
BlueSkySky17 posted a topic in General Fossil Discussion
I found this today while out side on a river bed. The part i found it at is usually not seen & covered by water but the river is unusually dry so i found it on an exposed part. I’ve tried reverse image search & using a rock identifier but can’t find anything that looks similar besides other kinds of fossils. I’m really interested in learning what it is!!! i live in southern minnesota. -
Found this while hiking in texas, unsure of what it is! It flakes relatively easily, shiny when light is shined on it, and it is a white color IMG_9663.mov

I found this tooth at El Capitán Beach on the coast by Santa Barbara in the mid 90’s. Any idea who lost their tooth? I’ve wondered what animal this tooth belonged to. Can anyone help me identify it?

Hi folks! I'm relatively new to the Dallas area (about 4 years now) and very new to rockhounding/fossil hunting. I've done some of the basic hunting in the fossil parks, but I'm looking to branch out and find new things. I keep seeing the Atco and Kamp Ranch names thrown around, but I have no idea how to actually locate them. I understand that they are part of larger formations, but as someone who doesn't have any training in natural sciences I'm not really sure where to look. The few times I've attempted to find somewhere off the beaten path I've been unsuccessful at finding anything besides calcite. If anyone is willing to share any helpful hints or trusty references I would appreciate it!

Hi everyone, this is my first post! Does anyone have any tips on locating a tooth near Sulphur, Indiana? It’s a personal goal! I don’t expect anyone to give away a “secret location” or anything of that nature. I’m willing to put in the work! Thank you! 🙂

Will post both halves. #1 ( first photo measure)( first half) #1 ( first again little closer turned) ( first half) #2 (second half)

Isotelus trilobite
Georgemckenzie posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hiya everyone someone’s selling a trilobite, but hasn’t got a name or locality, normally I can tell straight away if a trilobite is real but the pictures aren’t the best and it’s like no trilobite I’ve seen, not sure if it’s a replica or a fake made to look like a isotelus. -
