Can anyone identify this? It was found in Northern Arkansas in the United States. It feels like rock but looks like bone. Has circles similar to what growth rings look like but not for sure.

Location is kem kem beds, seller said less than 5% restoration. I know nothing about claws but this one almost looks too good to be true and too perfect but I’m not sure how to definitively tell if it’s real or fake

Hi Everyone, I'm very new to fossil hunting and was considering going down to Cory's Lane in RI as it's only about 40 minutes from me. I scoped the place out on Google Maps and have some questions for anyone that's hunted there. Do you need a permit to fossil collect in RI? It looks like you can't collect in state parks, but I don't think this area is a state park. I'm actually not even sure if it's town property or private? Google wasn't much help and I'm not really sure which department it would fall under to go through state websites. Are people actually allowed to go along the water edge to collect, or is it all private property and we hope no one notices? It looks like there is a residential area and then a school further up the shore line. I don't want my first experience doing this (out of state, no less) to put me on the wrong end of the law. How's the parking situation there, the lot looks very small, like maybe 4 cars max. Are you allowed to park on the street if there's room? I didn't notice any signs when I street viewed the area. I was considering having a family member come with me and they drive an SUV compared to relatively small hatchback. Is anyone here a member of RIMH? Is the club active, is it worth joining if I can, I live in MA? Thanks for any info!

Hi, Fossil Folks! I’m a long-time dinosaur enthusiast (I even wrote a book for kids about ‘em!) but I’m TOTALLY new to fossils and a first-time poster—apologies if I make errors with this. ️I would LOVE ID help on this item I found last week on a beach in Monmouth County, NJ. What do you think it might be? (it’s flat, not round, I don’t see serrations but it’s obviously pretty worn, and I’m including photos of both sides and “top.”) All opinions welcome and appreciated! THANKS for looking/commenting!

Location: East Missouri Being a really new hunter, this is only the 10th or so actual fossil i've ever found, and it's a doozy. A large death plate that I stumbled upon, that I want to do some prep work on to try and uncover and identify what appears to be some actual fossilized bone. Or even if not, just uncover some of the depth. There's a ton of surface cracks here that i've been gently tapping to work some of this plating off, but i'm more super curious about the general structure here. I've highlighted a few areas that I'm concerned about touching, and would love some feedback. What's my concern? I've noted in the below pictures below, but there is a highlighted area that has a suspiciously smooth texture that makes me worry I am actually going to work on top of or chip away a larger set of fossil. So long as what i'm working with here is just some common fossil of no historic value, I have less concerns, but the size of the mass on the lower right has me concerned to work on this specimen at all rather than turning it into our local Science Center for management. I'd love some opinions here on what exactly i'm working with, and any other general conversation Note: I've pushed the contrast on the fossil-overlay image to help show some of the detail on a hazy day photo. I have included both an overlayed image with some text and the full RAW image from my camera with higher resolution for examination.

Found dozens of these oval fossils along the Red Sea on the Egypt side. They were in hard, dark grey rocks and kinda look like turtle shells. They were all stuck in the rocks the same way, any idea what it could be?

I live in the mountains of Cibola County NM, lots of ancient volcanos. I was gathering limestone rocks for my rock wall I’m building and noticed this. I know fossils are pretty common in these rocks, it looks like the spiral of a snail or something. Anyone know what it is?

Hello, everyone! Back in February I was hunting in the North Sulphur River, and I found a few fossils that I am curious about, as well as a broken artifact. If anyone could give me any insights on these pieces, I would be grateful! 1: Pictures 1-3 are of the artifact. 2: Pictures 4-6 are of a tooth. To me, it seems mor conical than a shark tooth, but it does have a flat part underneath. 3: Pictures 7-8 Unknown 4: Pictures 9-11 Unknown 5: Pictures 12-14 Unknown

Hi I found this at a rock shop that sells flats of fossils and minerals and at first I thought it was mastodon but it doesn’t have thick enough enamel. Then I thought it could be rhino like Brontotherium any thoughts? Any help appreciated.

I am spending the week in Myrtle Beach, SC and I have been finding various shell fossils all week. Today I found this unusual fossil that I can't ID as well as what I believe is a sand dollar fossil in matrix. If I could please get an ID on the first one. Thank you in advance!

Hello everyone! I am new to the forum and also a total newbie in fossil with my only experience with fossils as a research internship. I would like to ask if this ammonite fossil that I've purchased is genuine or not (I bought it from a museum - so I'm assuming it's real), but I'll love to learn more from everyone! I have two main questions about my specimen (based on looking at other posts about ammonites): 1. the centre's pattern of my fossil is very clear like it's almost carved out - how can you tell if the centre has been modified? (as I've seen most other specimens being commented as fabricated/carved) 2. what is the white shell-like thing on my specimen? - it seems like other ammonites that aren't polished(which preserves the external ornaments) should be brownish-rock like.

Hi I found this in my collection I don’t have any labels for it or anything. It is blue at the bottom in light and green at the top and it is also terminated on six sides. help appreciated.
