Hello! I'm pretty new to fossil hunting and I've been able to ID a few specimens but I'm having trouble with these. The ones here are from a couple trips to Big Brook in NJ. I tried my best to take good photos (when will smartphones come with a macro lens??). 1 looks like it could be a tooth or just a rock 2 seems to be porus (I did the tounge test) 3 looks like a jaw or just a rock 4 seems like it could maybe part of a turtle shell? 5 is definitely a vertebra, but I'm not sure from what 7 seem to be teeth or claws 8 is definitely a tooth but im not sure from what 11, 12, 16 are definitely teeth Thanks for any help

I'm thinking of buying this tooth but I'm not sure what it is. it was described as a mosasaur tooth but the grooves say otherwise. It looks like a brachauchenius to me but I'm not sure.

Hello, I found this fossil in South Central Kansas, 20 miles north of Oklahoma border. A pond was dredged and this was found on a sand pile. Could someone please help me identify it?

I'm hoping someone can help me troubleshoot my CP 9361 air scribe. I'm copying my same post from Facebook in hopes to get more visibility. The main issue is that once the stylus touches rock, the stylus jams, or simply stops working. When changing the dial for air from 0 to 5, settings 0-3 blow out little to no air. Setting 4 blows out much air. Setting 5 blows out little to no air. If I turn the dial slowly, sometimes the stylus will engage Sometimes I have to bang the casing on something (either the palm of my hand or the leg of a table) to get it to start again I've cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and lubricated with 3-in-1 machine oil If I have just 1 O-ring on the stylus it will work for a few moments. If I have 2 O-rings on it, the stylus will never vibrate / engage. Do I need to just buy a new air scribe? Does anyone have any ideas if this is actually a fossil and what it could be? I found it in west Wales by the sea, and I've found fossils very similar to what ever composition this is like a kind of gritty, sandy, delicate rock with tiny crinoid. Bits in it and stuff like that, this one doesn’t have any signs of crinoid, but it has a weird black lump sticking out and something white so this is a fossil?

Hello everyone, I'm looking for a professor in this field or someone with any sufficient knowledge in the matter of question, what can we obtain from looking at a tooth of an animal? The purpose of the question is to learn and design an Image processing algorithm that shall do the work for non-experts who would find a tooth of a fossil. So far, I've come to know it is easy to determine if the animal is carnivorous or herbivorous. But I don't know how to do it myself yet. Any help? -

I found this oddity while walking along Bandera Beach in Costa Rica. The beach is visited by sea turtle, crocodiles, sting rays, humpback whales and other fishes and sharks. The beach is on the Pacific Ocean relatively close to the equator. It is shaped like a shark tooth but I doubt that it is due to the porous nature and large size. The shape doesn’t remind me of coral, but it could be. It seems to me like a bone. There is a small protuberance that soft tissue could attach to. I was thinking turtle or crocodile but I reviewed images of their skeletons and didn’t see a match. Any ideas?

Crossing the Guadalupe River ( a Texas State Park) today when one of my dogs picked this bone up out of tree ramble/debris in the water. I thought it was very interesting, so I snapped a video and set it down on a boulder. I had plan to pick it up on my way back out. But I forgot all about it and took a different route back to my car. I am home now, going through my pictures and ran across the video. As you may imagine I’m really worried it might be a human bone, . Can y’all help me out with what you believe the bone to be. Human or animal. for reference I am 5’5”

So found this today in our stream and never seen anything like it. Originally thought it was a plant or bit of wood however is definitely stone/mineral/bone after the teeth test. Our best guess is a stalactite however we have no clue. If anyone can give us a rock ID or a fossil ID would love to know more. It’s just over an inch in length no more then 35mm with a hole/tube going through it

Found this on the pacific coast of Costa Rica, I know it’s not rare to find teeth on the beaches here however this has been weathered down so it’s smooth. Me and my friend are in a debate about what it is so any opinions or validations would be appreciated. I personally think a very old meg tooth

I found this on a beach in the Isle of Wight. Not sure if it’s a pattern on the rock or a fossil. The shape is much darker than appears on the photos but I’ve done my best. Thank you!

Aparently I'm the first person to find a petrified egg w/o shell. Found in oregon, Southish westish. I've done some research, enough to know its "not" but ... I did try polishing so I could see thru better, it has little divets around it. Very interesting piece to me. Seems to have embryo, top little flat piece like egg inside. Thank you for any info, before I cut in 2? Lol
