From the album: Durant Pond Site trip November 11, 2023
These oyster shells have small holes in them that appear to tunnel through to the other side. Possibly the work of some type of worm?-

Hello, We found this cool fossil mixed in with other stones in our planting in Lake County, Illinois and cannot figure out what type it is. We are in Northern Illinois near the Wisconsin border. My mom thinks it is a coral but I think it looks like the imprint of a bunch of isopods. We know little about fossils but would love to know more about this find. It is possible that it is not from our area since it was mixed in with landscaping rocks. Thanks!

I found this under a few inches of dirt in my yard. I've lived here since 2004 so surprised to find it. This novice is curious to figure out what it is, how common this is to find, possible age... I'm about 5 miles from the Puget Sound outside Seattle and at 500 ft above sea level so guessing it was brought to where I found it. Can almost make out tiny shells in some of the holes. It's quite heavy and slightly larger than a football. Thanks community!

This is the size of a 50 cent piece for those familiar with that coin. It measures about 2 inches in diameter - it's a bit oblong however. I can supply more photos if needed. Someone might identify this immediately with just the 2 photos. This was found recently along the Atlantic Coast shoreline along an outgoing tide after a storm. It's the shape of a top of a mushroom, even with the bottom having an a small indent in center. It's texture feels like pumice, and is light in weight like pumice. As you can see the tissue (or sheet) layers upon layers of holes that create this round small structure. Thank you.

This boulder is on the property we recently purchased. We're in NE Oklahoma. I've been curious about the origin of the rows of pits/holes in it but just now have time to really pursue an answer. I realize that there a good chance that it's not a fossil but I just don't know where to go for an answer. I would greatly appreciate any input or suggestions. The scale is indicated to some degree by my four-year-old's hand in the frame. Each hole/pit is about 1-1.5 cm wide. The rows are separated by about 6-10 cm. The entire stone is maybe a meter or so wide. I haven't seen any other stones on the property with this pattern. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.

I live in the middle of Texas. A friend gave me this "rock" or fossil that he says was dug out of the fossil gravel pits nearby. Please tell me if you know what this is. [
