Hello, This is my best 2D Ammonite that a friend generously gave to me. It is 4cm in diameter and is from Holzmaden,Germany. Could somebody tell what specie of ammonite this is? Or any additional info. Tell me if you need more pictures. Thanks,Regards

Chitinobelus, a strange and rare belemnite? from the Posidonienschiefer

Extremely rare, I never thought I'd get the chance to acquire one of these so I was very pleased when one came up for sale. Chitinobelus acifer Fischer 1981, a belemnite (or possibly belemnotheutid) whose rostrum was originally composed of aragonite with organic material. As a result, it's preserved as a compressed organic film with the aragonite lost to diagenesis. Belemnites are nearly always mostly calcite (largely thought to be primary) and preserve 3D in all sorts of rock. There is argument (quite complex) over whether this is an unusual aragonitic belemnite or something a bit different. There are prominent striations which are similar to those in the "normal" belemnite, Salpingoteuthis. From the Jurassic, Lower Toarcian Posidonienschiefer of Zell (not far from Holzmaden, Germany). As far as I know, this is the only locality it's been found. Phragmocone chambers just visible.

A 10 cm long unidentified bone from the lower Jurassic from Holzmaden. I think that its a part of a rib, but I am not sure. -
So most of the Christmas decorations--at least the outside ones are down! and I got sidetracked again when I went into the garage to put the decorations away. Started to move fossil boxes around and found myself looking in the dang things...I was thinking some of this stuff needs to go in a case and started to photograph some of it and make sure the labels were with them. I've still got some work to do but thought I'd show you much of it...could be a few pieces on the other side of the garage but here's the bulk of what I have from Germany... This collection started many years ago and as I've never been there to collect personally my distant relatives immigrated from there and another good friend influenced me with her German collections so thru Gifts, trades and purchases here you go. Hoping there is something in here you havent seen before. File names have Genus and location. Some small vertebrates... An amphibian and similar sized small fish. Most of a dragonfly Some crustaceans from Solnhofen Some plants Some belemnites

I found this in Holzmaden and I just want to know whether it's a fish scale and maybe even what fish it belongs to. I will soon upload better pictures.
