Linked is a 3D model of a nearly perfect Hoploscaphites nodosus ammonite. Models can be viewed using this website: Online 3D Viewer or through other software. This is a 3D model of an actual fossil and is not a "recreation", but since my last upload was moved here this is where I will upload the rest of my 3D scans. If anyone else has any good ammonite or inoceramus finds from Colorado please share them with me and tell me a little about them. I've been reading some of Bill Cobban's papers about the invertebrate paleontology of Colorado and I've gotten really interested in what can be found around here. Thanks! -Sam 1195980117_Hoploscaphitesnodosus-Kprl(1)-1.glb -

8cm. nicolletii zone Maastrichtian Late Cretaceous. I picked this up for a song recently on our favorite online auction house. I had to finish off the prep and do a small bit of modelling at the venter. The seller had no idea about the location, not even the state, but that really doesn't matter to me. I'm just happy to be able to add another of these gorgeous ammonites to my collection.-

RJB offered an unprepped Hoploscaphites from the Pierre Shale of Montana a while ago which he was gracious enough to send to me, although he normally doesn't ship overseas. Thanks again, Ron! It arrived a couple of days ago and I could hardly wait to get down to it since I've had these on my bucket list for ages. You can see the stage he had it at in the link. Here's how it looked in my cabinet after a few hours with the stylus. It turned out that the smaller one at the front was just a partial, and since there was nothing much else except broken shell material to be found in the concretion, I decided to remove the ammonite completely from the matrix. This is the stage it has reached after roughly 10 hours of work. My abrader has unfortunately broken down and I've had to send it off for repair, so this beauty shall have to wait for a while before I can finish it off.
