Hello everyone! ive got three slabs of prints created by an unknown prehistoric animal (if it’s even created by an animal) that had been in my collection for quite some time now. Since I’m on the forum and still requires a proper identification for it any identification help from ichnofossil experts are much appreciated! Here are some pictures of the fossils but since the prints might not be that clearly seen I uploaded some other pictures highlighting the “lumps” or the pattern made by the print. Hope that helps.
Went to my local Carboniferous Period/Pottsville Formation rock pile containing ichnofossils and came upon this oddity. First glance, the round object appears to be an gastropod of sort but upon closer inspection it doesn't look like it? Perhaps it will appear to you that it may be one? I find it interesting there is a pathway from one point to another and the object is on that pathway. Could it have been and air bubble being pushed by wind from one point to the other? It's definitely a mystery, any other thoughts would be appreciated!
