Looking for some documents on ammonite species in the charmouth mudstone formation
FossilLerp2 posted a topic in Questions & Answers
Hey everyone, I've been searching for a document or book or anything else that gives an expansive list of ammonite species which can be found in the charmouth mudstone formation or just charmouth and seatown in general. I can't seem to find anything, which seems so weird to me because it is such a well visited location. So if you know or have such a list at hand, please send it to me. Also if someone can provide me with a graph with the biozones and succession at charmouth and the ammonite species like the one I attached (it is for the boulonnais in France), that would be extremely helpful. -
When fossil hunting in Big Brook yesterday, I came across an ammonite fossil that was very well preserved for the area! It was multiple chambers put together! I'm just wondering if it is possible to tell the genus of the animal, any help would be much appreciated! Thank you! -Snag

Hello! All of these are from two trips to the Flag Ponds Nature Park in Maryland I've made recently. Tried to do some identifying on my own with the Fossil Shark Teeth of the World book from Joe Cocke (ISBN 0-9715381-3-1), but there's so many to compare against that I'm not sure I'm even on the right track for the ideas that I had. And that's not even counting my few mystery teeth! Some more expert opinions than mine would be greatly appreciated. The first photo is all of the teeth that I found. Unfortunately, I seemed to have lost the little teeeeny tiny tooth when I was sorting through teeth in my identifying process, so there's now only 18. Which makes me sad, because the little one was my favorite! Handwriting translation: 1. Serratolamna ?? 2. Carcharias taurus 3. Hemipristis serra 4. Galeocerado cuvier 5. Carcharhinus limbatus 6. Alopias ?? All photos were taken beside a machinist ruler (inches, as the metric ruler refused to be found) for size comparison. I've tried to follow the guidelines for getting identification, but let me know if I need to add more photos.

Hi, I recently found what I believe is a possible Equine tibia on a piece of my family's land in western Pennsylvania. I work primarily with human skeletal remains so my paleo zooarchaeology skills may not be up to par compared to others that study the subject full time. I found the bone when I was digging holes to plant some trees; it was not found with any other bones or contextual clues. The habitat is a western Pennsylvania woodland forest that has very little development and was found during the fall. I would appreciate any feedback as to what exactly I have in my possession. Thank you for your time! P.S. Please do not mind the background, the image was taken at my work desk.

Hi all! Turning to Fossil Forum's wisdom as always for ID purposes. Found this bit in Ramanessin brook on a short dig. Split between if this is a skull bone fragment or simply a piece of ghost shrimp claw. Seems to fit more consistently with bone, just under the diameter size of a quarter. Any help back is appreciated.

Hello fellow fossil lovers! I found these at a beach in NSW, Australia called caves beach after smashing open some rocks. Do you reckon either of them are fossils and if so what would they be? Thanks.

Fake, Cast, Partially Reconstructed, Or Genuine Trilobite???
RyanDye posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Simple question is this trilobite real partially real or completely fake I understand much of large Cambrian trilobites are completely fake and have no actual genuine fossil remains in them I would like to be informed of which category this "fossil" falls into thanks in advance. (I'm expecting all the replies to be fake if it is completely fake with no fossil remains at all I ask for advice on what to look for next time I know most of the common signs only after the purchase of the "fossil" but before I completely give up the idea of a genuine fossil I figured some more experienced people could look at it again thanks in advance.- 34 replies

Hello fellow dinosaur enthusiasts! I'm currently bidding on a what they say is an Segnosaurus egg on a website. I contacted the person and she said he bought it years ago also on a website. Now is the thing she doesn't have an proof of authentication and if I look around the internet all the other Segnosaurus eggs have more smooth shells. But this might be that it was found in a different type of soil. According to her the egg was found in Xixia, China. I hope one of you guys can shed a light on this if this is an authentic egg or not.
