Here are a couple of inverts that I found at a dry land site last year, put them in a cigar box and then forgot about them. I ran across them again while digging through my boxes. I managed to ID a couple of them (not shown), but a few eluded my ID attempts - I am not very good with inverts (many are similar). Does anyone know what these are? Any help would be greatly appreciated. The big one is 5 inches across and appears to be a cast. Another is some kind of scallop (I think) and the last photo is barnacles of some kind. These were all found in a spot that was rich in Miocene inverts.

Hi all, I just got back from Arizona where I spent a couple of days at the Tucson Gem Show. On my quest for coprolite treasure at the Moroccan village, I came across this little mystery piece. I'm assuming it is some type of coral or brachiopod. The dealer only had a handful of these and this one had the least damage. Can anyone identify it? Any guesses on the age? When I first saw it, it reminded me of the septarians in this thread. Obviously, they are not the same.

Hello! I'm from Humboldt County California. I've been collecting fossils my whole life. I mainly find invertebrate fossils in my area. Most of the species are extant because my rocks are only about 2 - 3.5 million years old. Here are some picture from my most recent trip. A Giant pacific Sea Scallop, assorted snails, and what I believe to be part of a barnacle just left of the penny in the last photo.

Finally, I have a fossil with some geological information associated. This piece is from the lower Ordovician Wah Wah Formation, specifically Section J in the Confusion Mountains in western Utah. I believe it might be an echinoderm scale. I would be thrilled if anyone could verify that and/or add any additional taxonomic information for me. Thank you so very much for your thoughts, and please let me know if you need additional photographs and I will do my best!

This is a piece that I picked up on a geology field trip years ago in eastern New Mexico. I apologize that I have unfortunately lost the field notebook that contains more specific location information, but I am hoping to get in contact with the teacher that took us there for other reasons and might be able to provide additional information if I can ask him. The section was Cambrian to Ordovician in age: it started with abundant stromatolites, then progressed into thrombolites and finally siliciclastics disappeared during the Ordovician sea level high-stand. If my memory serves, I believe these were found from relatively low in the section and so should be Cambrian, but it has been long enough (about 12 years) that I would not stake my life on that. Since it may be hard to tell from the photos, these are essentially organic material on the surface of the rock with no visible depth at all. I am honestly a little stumped on this ID and, without the field notebook, I simply can't remember what my professor said about them; I remember that I did not know the word he used at the time, but I was new enough to invertebrates that that could mean almost anything. My best guess is that they are gorgonians, but I am probably several phyla removed from the right ID. I am happy to take any additional photos if they will help. Thank you for your thoughts!
