From the album: Sharks
The Mako tooth design hasn't changed much in ~ 30 million years. The left tooth is the modern species I. oxyrinchus, the right one is I. desori (from Charleston, SC, 2 1/8" slant, Oligocene). Some would say that I. desori is the same as the modern species.-

Hi everyone, I'm buying some shark teeth from someone who hunted a bunch of them in Maryland - I would assume Calvert Cliffs. I'm looking for Isurus oxyrinchus - short-finned mako. Could anyone please confirm if 30 in this image is Isurus oxyrinchus? For reference, each square is 1.5" x 1.5". Also, is anyone able to identify 40? I would say Snaggletooth, but it doesn't appear to be serrated.

From the album: Pleistocene and Miocene fossils
A 2.8 cm long shark tooth maybe Isurus oxyrinchus from the beach "de kaloot" in vlissingen. The fossil material there comes from the base of the Westerschelde. The Westerschelde cuts through layers from the Pleistocene , Pliocene , Miocene to Oligocene .-
