I had this piece mixed with a few Sulfur river odds and ends. I was looking at it closely and thought it had a similar texture to the jaw piece wonder if this is possibly a mosasaur coracoid that fits just behind a jaw - not that this piece has anything to do with the jaw pictured 4x2 cm I took pictures from many angles and included the jaw for comparison

This large jaw bone was found in the Peace River (Florida). I don't think it's fossilized, but it doesn't exactly look very-recent either. Surely Holocene I think, although I guess it could be older? Is it horse? Cow? Something else? Any help is appreciated. Thanks! (The brass scale cube measures 1cm square)

After the Velociraptor skull, I finally finished another very long project: the baby T. rex skull designed by Inhuman Species, a 3D printed museum quality fossil replica of a 2-3 years old Tyrannosaurus rex. I really love this project and I made a video of the making from the 3D printing to the painting - I hope you like it. If you're wondering, I 3D printed the skull with the Alfawise U30 in PLA plastic; please watch the video and turn on subtitles to learn more about the tools and the making processes. If your're addicted or interested in 3D printing, you can't miss those topics:

Real or Fake Masosaur Jaw?
Saturated-Sam posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
I am looking into buying one of these parts of a mosasaur jaw and wanted to make sure there real. I believe there is, but getting a second opinion always helps. -
From the Meherrin River in NE North Csrolina. Local geology and preservation suffuse Plio-Pleistocene. I've eliminated tuna, grouper, wahoo, seabass, drum, sturgeon and tarpon. Im out of ideas. Thoughts?

I found this piece of what I think is lower jaw exposed by eroding sand dunes next to an ephemeral lake in western NSW, Australia. The kind of place where aboriginal stone artefacts are also being exposed by the eroding dunes. While I am not knowledgeable about fossils, I am experienced with our current environment, animals and bone ID. This doesn’t match anything native living presently and isn’t right for something like cow or even camel either. The texture, surface, weight doesn’t match the feel of modern bone and it strongly sticks to the tongue. There is sand cemented to the bone that does not come off. I’ve had a look online and have an idea about what it might be but rather than influence any answers, I will leave it up to the experts here to provide much more educated answers. More pics in further posts.

I was wondering if anyone here can tell me if this is legitimate or not? The seller says it's a museum quality piece, but after looking at it and the back I question. It almost sounds hollow when I knock on it. Would love any feedback, trying to build up my collection and thought this was a very nice looking fossil, but I know very little.

Hi all, I found this jaw section with the help of a friend on a trip to SW Florida last week. It was found on the bank of the creek with other land and marine fossils. Any ideas on what it came from? Thanks Jesse

Hi everyone, Im looking at a bunch of stuff that someone got from the big fossil expo this month, but I want to be sure of what is what before I do anything. There's a few things way beyond what I could potentially get, but I'm just curious about in general. These are all Moroccan, and most, if not all, are Kem Kem. are these first 4 pics spinosaur? With the teeth I know the 2 on the top&left are probably carchar teeth, but I'm wondering about the other 2. In the 2nd picture, I'm guessing the right one is a spinosaur vert, right? What about the other one? I'm sure it would probably be very hard to tell with just a single rib, but could the rib be spinosaurus? It seems to match some museum spino skeleton ribs, but that's the best I can figure out:/

Spinosaurus Jaw-Piece or perhaps composite?
Sauroniops posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Had been talking with a guy selling a spinosaurus jaw-piece, and got the pictures of it today. And the first thing that strikes me, is how perfect the teeth look compared to the rest of the jaw. To me, it sorta looks like they were planted there. With that said, there's a tooth in the jaw, that hasn't grown out, which is obviously much harder to make. However it does look like the part on where it sits, has been restored, and thereby the chance of it being placed there. And to me it also looks a bit like there are fillings in-between the two big teeth. I'm very much in doubt about this one, but right now it looks very suspicious to me, so I just wanted to post this here in case some of you guys can confirm that it's fake, composite, or real.- 10 replies

Since I am finished with my shark vertebrae cluster I have decided to start on a shadow box for my otodus obliquus tooth set but my daughter insists on a jaw. So here I am trying to make a jaw but oh boy it's not easy since I have never done anything like that. The fact that I am working only with photos doesn't help much either but what you would not do for your kids :). Did enyone here made a jaw before? Any suggestions? I am not trying to scientifically reconstruct an otodus jaw, I am just after a nice display piece.

Found some cool items today - Real or Fake?
Beau'n Collector posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hi everyone! New member here. I am very excited to make my first post. So I came across a vendor today with some cool stuff, but I wanted to run some photos by the forum members first to see: 1) if you think they are real or fake. 2) how much would you expect to pay for a piece like that. Thanks for the help! Item #1 - Mosasaur Jaw To my eyes, this item looks legit as the teeth don't seem to be floating above the jaw with composite all around it, or teeth pointed in different directions. BUT...I know fakes are good and I am relatively new to educating myself to fakes vs real. Item #2 - Another Mosasaur Jaw (top and bottom) Also looks pretty legit to my newb eyes. But I am worried both top and bottom jaws in that position are too good to be true. Item #3 - Croc Skull? My gut reaction is fake...mostly due to the matrix looking like it was smeared on like cream cheese. Item #4 - Plesiosaur Skull and Neck It's apparently from goulmima southern morocco. Sadly I don't have more pics, as I didn't want to handle it and move it around. But I was able to get down low and see that it does have it's teeth. I just couldn't a good picture of it. :-\ The closest comparison I could find was this plesiosaur head/neck from an archived auction house website image. But the matrix around it seems the same.- 10 replies

Just a little heads-up if anyone sees these. They're currently for sale at a commonly-used site. The jawbones are actually quite nice, but the teeth all appear to be added afterwards. In my opinion, none are original. Although both are nice decorative pieces, I wouldn't buy them unless they were pretty cheap. Most people will know this already, but posted for the benefit of newbies.
