Dear All, Another ID request for you, though only of part of a fossil. I recently acquired a Macrocephalites madagascariensis, originally found in Anwil, Switzerland. It has some sort of internal structure in the shell (see attached photos), but I'm not entirely sure what it is and searching for ammonite anatomy on the internet hasn't given me the answers I've been looking for either. Would any of you happen to know what it is? Many thanks in advance! Nick

At least I think its a tiny tooth. Size about 3mm. Boulonais, France. Upper jurassic, marine/ terrestial sediments.

Hello, I found this bone in the marine deposits of the Boulonnais, France. Upper Jurassic. I assumed it is a part of the jaw (snout) of a toothless ophthalmosaurus, which are abundant there (mainly vertebrae). However, this week I read the article about a toothless pterosaur jaw from the UK and saw some resemblance. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-54891483 I added the pictures of the bone, the pterosaur and an ophthalmosaurus for comparison. I am curious about your thoughts. Regards, Niels

I spent the afternoon today exploring the ditches in the Upper Danube Valley and found something in all 3 of them. Spent most of my time at the regular ditch by the side of the road in the end where I've been slowly excavating the Kimmeridgian hypselocylum zone every couple of months or so for the last few years. I took a couple of photos of the work in progress and also one of my finds. I'll post them here again once they're prepped.

Another find from Helmsdale, Scotland (Jurassic). Looks kind of familiair but I wonder between some kind of fish bone or maybe turtle? Also there seems to be a tiny surprise next to the bone.

Hello, This was found in Helmsdale, Scotland. Jurassic sediments. Tiny bone wich apears to be hollow (filled in sediment). What do you think?

Could this be a chimaera or rather Ischyodus dental plate? Upper Jurassic of Boulonnais, North of France.

Tooth. Found in Poland by the river, on the beach among stones. Tooth resembles a predatory tooth "Smilodon", but maybe from a different period, for example jura. Is the marine reptile? Look at its curvature and structure in macro pictures. I am asking for help with ID

I put this before on the FB page but like to try here as well. This partly eroded bone was found in Jurassic sediments in the Boulonnais area in the North of France. The sediments are marine but the sea was not far from the beach and sometimes terrestrial animals (dinosaurs) can be found. I thought this a vertebra; but no neural arch showing and the shape is weird; it looks a bit like a carpal/ tarsal bone of a big animal but I may be seeing to much. Perhaps a paddle bone of a marine animal is another option? Hope you can help me. Regards, Niels

I found this in Jura, Switzerland, near Courtedoux, about a kilometre from one of the sites where dinosaur tracks were discovered in 2002 (https://www.myswitzerland.com/en-us/dinosaur-traces-courtedoux.html). I was wondering whether it was a fossil of something, and if so of what?

Hello again, I found this bone in the North of France, Boulonnais, in Jurassic deposits. The fossils found here are mainly marine but sometimes terrestial. I have no idea what this bone might be. It is rather complete and I guess that it has some characteristics which would make ID possible. Especially, the "branch" on the right of the first pictures. The bone goes a little bit deeper into the matrix, approx 2-3 cm. See the last picture. Hopefully, somebody can help me. Regards, Niels

Dear All, please let me start my very first post with Sir Ernest Shackleton´s "pseudo real" ad from London newspaper The Times: “Ah, when ships were made of wood and men were made of steel…” I am looking for an experienced fossil hunter to join an adventure in the Swiss Geneva Region or neighbouring France, Jura... I have literally zero experince, but willing to learn new things. No equipment but I would love to invest in a small hammer and a chisel for a reasonable price... by the way thank you for the warm welcomes. Looking forward to hear from you... All comments, ideas and suggetions are welcome... Hallo, Does anyone know what this might be? I am hoping for a dinosaur skin inprint. :-) This was found on Svalbard on a spot where I also found bones from Plesiosaurs and Ichthyosaur. I am grateful for any help. Thanks! /Malin
