Hello, Found this tiny tooth of about 1 x 1 cm in marine Jurassic sediment in the Boulonnais. North of France. Could this be a marine crocodile tooth, such as machimosaurus? Regards, Niels

Hi, first time fossil hunter here - so apologies in advance! Currently visiting the Isle of Wight Jurassic Coast and spent the day at the beach and have a couple of interesting finds - just not sure if what I found is actually anything more than just a pretty rock! So, this first one is about 11cm in length and had a sort of white slightly porous texture, with yellow brown markings. One marking has the texture of tiny bumps, whilst the other looks like smoother ridges. Can anyone please help?

Hi again, I’ve just posted my first find, and here is another I would like help with please. Found on the Isle of Wight Jurassic coast, grey coloured rock around 8cm in length, with what looks like some fish bone type markings. On the reverse side of the same rock is a round light grey circle about 1cm across with a thin white circle surrounding it. Please can anyone help with more information... thanks!

Does anyone recognize these grooves on the outside of this bone fragment? This was found in upper Jurassic sediments in North of France, mainly marine but terrestrial is possible. I have never seen this structure before on the outside of a bone.

I guess this will be difficult. The biggest bone I found with lots of strange, associated pieces. Alle are associated. Late Jurassic of the Boulonnais, France. Looks like a bowl or dome. Any ideas are welcome.

That's my second complete belemnite rostrum found. First I found was bigger than that and measured 6,5 inch. It was donated to the museum for a permament exhibition which was a big event for a novice paleo enthusiast like me Back on the track, shortly after my first belemnite went to the museum I found another fine specie, one inch smaller but no less pretty I prepared it with Dremel engraver and brush with hard hair.

Geology club excursion to the coast of France
Manticocerasman posted a topic in Fossil Hunting Trips
Geology club excursion to the coast of France This weekend we had a 2 day excursion to the northern coast of France. First up were the Cenomanian cliffs in that area, although the use of tools was limited we were allowed to collect in the boulders laying on the beach. The stormy weather had done a great job at providing fresh material, and lots of fossils could be picked up on the beach. The 2nd day we went a few kilometers to the south were late Jurassic cliffs are exposed. There were no restrictions on collecting here, although we stayed away from the c- 15 replies

Hi. Just thought I’d try to verify the identification of this tooth. The seller claims it is a Megalosaurid tooth from the Lourinha Formation of Portugal. Unfortunately this is the best image of the tooth I have for now. Will try to obtain others.

Found yesterday on limestone quarry near Cracow. Site is confirmed 100% jurrasic. Before any preparations I want to be sure what I'm dealing with. Could it be a part of a lobster?

Found while fossicking for belemnites at the mouth of the Waikato River. South Side of Sunset beach. First picked as a belemnite but the curvature and lack of distinct central rings gave me pause.

The Non-Dinosaur Additions to Our Dinosaur Education Program
fossilsonwheels posted a topic in General Fossil Discussion
In an effort to give a more complete picture of life on planet earth during the age of dinosaurs, we did a post to get suggestions from TFF members about some non-dinosaur material. We got a lot of suggestions and it turned out to be a super informative post. We learned a lot and were able to begin the process of creating a better program for the kids. Just before that post, I had attended an amazing Ichthyosaur prep lab. It was found in Northern California, a few hours from hometown. Northern California is a dead zone for collecting fossils. There are some fossils to be found here- 2 replies

The report about freepaleontology excursion in Moscow city, Russia
procurator posted a topic in Europe
On April 20, 2019, a free paleontological excursion took place under the working title “Moscow Sea”. The weather was wonderful. +12 degrees clear. As a result, no one left without finds: ammonites (whole and fragments), belemnites, brachiopods and bivalves were found. My fees for the tour: a book on paleontology in Moscow and Moscow region, posters and demonstration materials, equipment for video shooting. Additionally, he grabbed PVA glue to process valuable finds immediately on the spot. After collecting at the Pionerskaya metro station, we headed to Filevsky Park. -
I have recently purchase two large pieces of Jurassic aged bone from the Morrison Formation near the Dinosaur National Monument in Northwest Colorado. They seemed to be shaped in a way that it maybe possible to give them a general ID, I don't know if it can of course go as far as ID the specific dinosaur of course but if anyone with experience may know what kind of bones they are, any help would be appreciated as I would like to label them for the collection. As it stands the first larger one I believe to be likely sauropod bone or some other large herbivore while the second one I think may be

Is This Torvosaurus Tooth Heavily Repaired/Fake?
Kurufossils posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Can across this one recently on our favorite auction site, a torvosaurus tooth from colorado. Though with no intention of buying especially at the high price tag it is at I have my suspicions, the seller claims it its 100% no repairs or restoration. Looking at the pictures I highly doubt it as it looks extremely repaired to me and some of it especially in the picture zooming into the tip reminds me of the little air holes found in fake cast trilobite. Idk how much is repaired or even if the whole specimen is fake, I'd be interested to hear what you guys think. Definitely a gigantic red flag to- 13 replies

Out hunting today in Whitby UK, having a lovely walk in the nice weather but finding nothing, literally back to the end ready to go back to car and this was lying between rock's, had a look and seen the nice gold keel sticking out, usual trick would be hammer blows to side to expose but I'm learning to be patient... prep pen is the way, cheers. Alan.
