    Ammonite Type

Hi I was wondering if someone would be able to give me the type of ammonite that this is, found in Redcar, Jurassic coast, Yorkshire
  5. I am a big fan of jurrasic sauropods and I therefore spend most of my time on preparing what is left of them. However, for a change I now started working on a slab of rock that seems to contain a series of fused sacral vertebrae by a theropod. The verts seem to belong to Allosaurus. Maybe not as cool as a sauropod fossil but I think that Allosaurus was a fascinating creature as well. The bones have been collected many years ago at Dana Quarry, Teen Sleep, Wyoming.

    Oval shaped oddity

We own a small cattle ranch in Grant County New Mexico and I find so many enigmatic rocks here and this is my first post here on this or any other forum so apologies in advance if I am making errors and will make efforts to read all the new member material in hopes I do not for future posts. Excited to learn and thank you.
  7. Hi! I made new display cabinet for my fossils picked for about 3 years now, just wanted to take you for a tour through my neighboring areas of interest Most of them are just boring ammonites but I recently acquired some new specimens like that big chunk of nautilus or some wood from a new discovered place, they're from Bathonian level. It's getting interesting
  8. I decided to make a short video of my fossil pine cones from Argentina and did some research to get information so that in the video it would sound like I know what I'm doing. That didnt work too well. I could only find info on the Araucaria pine cones. By any chance would any of you smart folks know what these other cones are. I really need some help with these. Thank you so much. RB

    vine-like Jurassic plant

This is from a well known site (Yaopo formation, early to mid Jurrasic) in western Beijing, where Cladophhlbis, Neocalamites, Czekanowskiales,Baiera Coniopteris are the most abundant stuff. People also found dinasaur footprints here ( one of them was first considered of an earliest bird, until some raised the possiblity of a very young Theropoda individual). The oppositely paired leaves( leass than 1 cm for each leave) are found before, with no ID. This is the first time people could tell its is a vine-like plant. Any clue what it could be? anything similar found before for this period?

Assorted sea shells from the UK

I purchased some "fossil rocks" from the UK. The darker ones are from the cretaceous greensand of shanklin. The White chalk one is from the Isle of Wight. Thanks Greg
  22. Hello. This is my next mystery. It's been looked at in the precleaned state and dismissed as a cool rock. I beg, to differ and need your thoughts. My reasons for thinking this is a fossil/ fossil impression are as follows: 1) As I cleaned, the left edge (see ladt pick with knife), began to show evidence this is on top of the matrix, not part of it. Likely matrix of shale-chert so please, take that into consideration. Extremely odd charts in my area 2) Looking at the picture with my finger, examine that small white portion. That appears totally different from the rest. 3) I do see a horizontal pattern matching the only other buchia so. I could find online. I've included that picture as well - All copyright remains with the Dr. Richard Paselt per the tag seen in the photo. Thank you for your time. If this is buchia, then it's a glacial find and came to the East Tennessee, Douglas Lake area of the French Broad river, Dandridge Docks, Dandridge, TN by water. That's where I found it. This is supposedly Mid-Ordovician in this area. Tennessee is an extraordinary place and it's State Fossil is a Jurrasic period one.

    Old collection fossil id

I am unable to identify these pieces from my grandad's collection. He is now unable to clearly see and so sadly couldn't identify it. It must be something, he was a zoologist and the shale meant enough to have a crack repaired. Parts look like bones to me. I'd love to get these identified so I can prep them, making them clearer so he can see them clearer again.
