Hello, My name is Noah, I am a fossil collector in the Midwest. I'm pretty new to the hobby, so I'm hoping to get some tips and see if I can identify some of the pieces I have found!

Hi Everyone, I recently broke open a rock on my property and found this interesting fossil. I have tried to identify it but can’t find anything that looks similar. I know it's a long shot for an ID, but more knowledgeable thoughts on what it could be would be very much appreciated. It was found in Missouri, Jackson County, north of highway 350, south of highway I-70, east of 435, and west of 470. The rock was dug out when digging a basement and subsequently cracked apart and the fossil was within. Basement location is atop glaciated ridge. I am guessing (serious amateur here) that the rock would be somewhere in the Late Pennsylvanian Stage? The red circle in this map below is the approximate location it was found. This is my first post from a newbie. I was hoping someone could help me and my grandson figure out what this is. It was found amongst gravel taken from the Missouri River and sold as landscaping gravel in Kansas City. If it is bone it appears to be fossilized as it sinks in water and has a 'clank" sound when tapped to metal or a tooth. Forgive the images as I used a 10 power loop held up to my phone camera to get the close ups. Also if anyone could make an ID on the black segmented stone used to prop up the specimen I would appreciate it. It was found in the same gravel. Thanks So Much
