    Keichousaurus, Real, Fake or Restored?

Hello, I just bought a nice Keich at Tucson for a good deal, but I am curious, how much is composited or restored? If it is completely fake I will be taking it back as I have the contact information of the dealer. I know surely part of it is painted, which I don't mind for display purposes and I was happy with the price, but I am hoping at least the majority is real. I put an alcohol wipe over part of it and some paint came off on the left arm beside the white stripe, but throughout the center there was no paint. They told me there were a few repairs, but I am hoping that is all that it is... Teeth and left arm are the areas I am suspect of. On the back, there are two raised slabs that they said were to keep the cracks together.
  2. I brought this Keichosaur around 2006 at a fossil and mineral show. I also just found this website this week. I never had any reason to think it was fake but since I have found this website, thought I should get some opinions. It’s a small example at only 3 4/5” x 3 1/5”. Appreciate the help.
  3. Not an obvious fake, bones appear 3d although the lines one either side of the abdomen look painted to me. Would love a little input from others before I buy. Seller's has another keich with bones slightly laterally displaced at a crack (which is something that would happen with real fossils but probably wouldn't be done with a fabrication).
  4. First up, I found several Keichousaurus fossils being sold. Amongst them all, I think this is the nicest one. Is it good or bad quality, and what would you pay for it? Second up is what appears to be a crocodylomorph skull from Morocco. The seller claims that it's a Dyrosaurus, but it's clearly not that. It looks nothing like Dyrosaurus, and it would be way too old. I know you can't say for certain just from photos, but how likely is it to be genuine? If it is, what genus do you think it belongs too?
  5. Hi. I got this keichousaurus as a gift. Its not the best i have seen and is missing some bones but im verry happy with it . So is it real ? Thanks
  6. I've seen the very helpful and detailed posts on finding fake keichosaurs, but I'd like second opinions on this so I can decide on buying it.
  7. Hi there. I am brand new to this hobby and have been making some purchases on online but I am concerned about authenticity. Here are some pics of fossils I am considering. Does anybody see any obvious issues? I know it is impossible to say for sure if they are genuine from a few pics but any pointers would be much appreciated!
  8. I bought this keichosaur a few years ago. I have read many topics where these have been fabricated or painted. What are your opinions on this one? Is it authentic?
  9. Hello, I have harboured doubts about this one having bought it of ebay over ten years ago. Its really only its ebay origin that troubles me as it seems to look Ok but I would welcome any feedback.

    Keichosaur

Hello, my friend has given me this Keichosaur he has convinced himself is fake. Is it? I know this fossil has quite the reputation. He purchased it from a store in Tennessee.
  11. Alright I know, I should know better. But the price was right and I was having a good week so I needed something to shatter my hopes and dreams. That out of the way. Listed as a "US acid - prepped specimen" Self explanatory. Back Right foot Tippy Tip of the tail Right ribs My biggest question is the specks of material between the ribs. Is this common on real Keichosaurs? To me on the overall picture they appear to be the ends of the ribs broken off from the underside. I will also note that almost every bone on this little guy is 3D above the rock surface. I was having trouble getting a good side view with my camera, I will try again, but figured you could all start with these! Thanks much as always, -Blake
