Keichousaurus fossil Real or Fake
Chris Kimo posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
I'm looking at purchasing this little fellow and I basically wanted some third party views on the legitimacy of the fossil. Here's my thoughts. The layout of the fossil looks different to fakes that I've seen as it is hunched over on itself in quite a natural death pose meaning the fossilised bone is stacked a little on parts. I believe this would be difficult to fake and also what's the point making your work harder when producing fakes. Also the small size and amount of detail included makes me think its real. The other detail that makes me belive it could be authentic is that the tiny tail vertebrae have separated apart towards the tip of the tail like what would occur naturally. Any shared knowledge on this subject would be greatly appreciated and also other people's views! Thank you for your time!- 2 replies

Keichousaurus Authenticity Check
vazs posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
I've become very interested in purchasing a Keichousaurus fossil. As an avid collector of ancient coins, I know how easily such things can be fabricated and altered, so I wanted to get the opinions of some enthusiasts. I just wanted to know based on the photos if you all think the fossil is genuine or not. Thank you all in advanced!- 3 replies

New keichousaurus. Painted or not?
TeethCollector posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
This one is a new Keichousaurus that I bought and I know there are a lot of overly restored or painted fossils. I see a repair line going through the body and I think at least some part of the fossil is real.. but anyone can figure out which part is painted or not? And does anyone know what those round impressions are? Is this a impression of a shoes or something?- 18 replies
