I bought this Keichousaur fossil online recently, before discovering this forum and finding out that fake fossils are common, and Keichousaur are commonly faked or embellished. I did have concerns that this may have been fake, though I think I've managed to work that out myself now thanks to a handily available xray machine. Still, confirmation would be nice and I thought this may be of interest. It is claimed to have come from Fuyuan County, Pengjiang, Yunnan, China

Hello all! First, let me say I am a relatively new fossil collector and new to this forum. I am a biologist and typically study living things, so please don't throw me out! I recently purchased a Keichousaurus hui from another collector but when it arrived the specimen was damaged. It appears to have broken along 2 previously repaired cracks in the matrix. I would like to repair this specimen or perhaps more ideally, have it repaired by someone experienced. Can anyone point me toward a suitable resource for proper guidance, or an experienced collector or professional who can

Need tips for recognizing a fake keichousaurus at a fossil fair
ziggycardon posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hi, next month I am going to Paleotime, a fossil fair in Belgium and I am hoping to find a Keichousaurus fossil. Now I know their are lots of fakes out there (although after doing some reading on this forum most of them I came to the understanding most of them aren’t entirely faked, just enhanced, painted and composites) And I am going to be honest, I don’t really care that much if the Keichou is a little bit enhanced of painted. But I hope to find a specimen that is at least 75 % or more authentic. So I was hoping if you guys could give me some tips as to what I should look for wh- 12 replies

Keichousaurus hui real/value?
Indoraptor posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Is this real (Keichousaurus hui) and if real what should be a correct value for it? So it is a juvenile Keichousaurus hui? I have less knowledge and looking to buy my first fossils, if someone can help with a good list of shops with a good name (pls PM me), that would help a lot! Thanks in advance for all the help! -

Is This A Reputable Keichousaurus Hui Dealer In Hong Kong?
cfi posted a topic in Questions & Answers
Hello All, I want to buy my husband a nice gift for his birthday, and I think that he would really like a fossil. He used to collect them as a child, so Im sure he would really like one, but he is not a collector nor does he have any now. I have been looking a bit online, and i would like some kind of reptile/dinosaur. From what I can see the Keichousaurus hui fossils seem to be the one that "looks" most like a dinosaur (im sorry if i am using ridiculous terms!). I like the idea of having a whole item rather than a tooth, or a bone etc. I also like the idea of something we can frame/han -

Would Like A Second Opinion On This Keichousaurus
AJ Plai posted a topic in General Fossil Discussion
The specimen is about 9-10 inches long - is this about the largest you could get with this specie? How good is the prep job of this particular piece? Also, I took a closer look at this specimen with a loupe and it seems to have a decent 3D texture, with no obvious ink work that I could detect, but I think it would be a good idea to upload the pics to let experienced fellow members here take a look at it and could give me a second opinion on this thing. Thx for the help
