Well, my 9 year old exploded. She’s no longer with us. At least not until she comes back down from getting her Christmas gift this year. All possible because of this forum!! For reference she and her best friend are Dino obsessed. It started with those darn movies. Then came the books and the toy model action figures of each dinosaur. These two have plans. Apparently they’re going to be paleontologists first, and then open a vet clinic “for living animals” after that. Between my veterinarian connections and this forum I appear to be in a very good position. 🤪 I need to thank @Guns because he hit a home run. I asked for a kid friendly, tiny hands taking them everywhere, dino starter set. I’m guessing this is something that probably is not typical but he knew exactly what I needed. Literally did all the work! She’s already fully handling and investigating them. They are stout and solid! He was recommended by another forum member and the whole process was wonderful. Super excited to show the display box and the set Guns put together. 6 months ago I was looking on a popular online auction site at Amber with insects and no idea about everything being fake. When I realized how tainted the market was, pretty much gave up the idea. Then this forum made it easy to trust the process I knew nothing about and that is rare. Nice work! Hello from West Virginia!! I am new here but I have immensely enjoyed reading all of the information I have found here tonight!! So my kids and I, were bored Sunday evening, so I had a “ Who can find the prettiest rock“ contest. We all thought we found some nice ones and I made the kids dinner and put them to bed. I don’t know why because we have picked up rocks many other times before, but this night I soaked the rocks in CLR. I know that’s probably a horrible thing to do.… But the next morning after the kids were to school I scrub them real good and was amazed! I think there’s so many fossils. My mom thinks I’m crazy! Lol and the more I seem to try to figure this out the more confused I am. Please help! Did we really find dinosaur bone, eggs, and teeth?!! SMH!! I tried to group them together as I thought fit. Hahaha.

My daughter is very interested in fossils and has several my dad sent to her. She would like help identifying this particular large rock that appears to have lots of fossils in it.

These were found in Myrtle Beach, SC. My 5 year old loves to search the beach for sharks teeth and shells. He picked these items up and begged to keep them. Just wonder exactly what they are. Thanks in advance for your help.

This past summer, we went to Dinosaur National Monument. I'd highly recommend it to anyone interested in dinosaur fossils and people with kids. It's a great opportunity to see fossil dinosaurs in their natural state and in a quarry, plus other fossils are around too (e.g. mini clams). I know you can't collect there, but it's good to see sites with an abundance of fossils the way they've been for ages. Lloyd

My 7 year daughter found this fossil in a river in Costa Rica. I am not sure if it is old. I think is a Bovidae tooth. Could you help me with identification? Thanks!!

John and I headed to Norman, Oklahoma yesterday to take part in a program the Sam Noble Museum held for Cub Scouts and Weblos. Upon completion, the scouts had earned their Geology belt loop and pin. This is an annual program--and they have similar activities for Girl Scouts. SNNHM did an excellent job with presenting a section on geology and another on paleontology. The boys were given a geological specimen bag, and a number of rock and mineral specimens to take home. Additionally, in the paleontology section, they were able to see a number of fossils up close, as well as take a few home. They helped the boys make casts and work on identification of fossils. To those of us who deal with fossils a lot, it might have seemed a little elementary, but John had a great time and it filled the requirement for a museum visit and interview with a scientist. I had not thought to look into museum programs like this until someone on the forum suggested Sam Noble. (If you're not in Oklahoma, check out museums in your area for programs for kids. Those of us who don't have museums in our local area might want to encourage rock/mineral clubs to sponsor similar events.) John with a Saurophaganax claw.
