amphibian jaw fragment with preserved joint Western Lithuania
D.N.FossilmanLithuania posted a topic in Fossil ID
Good morning everyone! Few months ago I found this jaw fragment in Ketvergiai quarry, Klaipeda district. The bone is 1.7 cm length and found in glacial boulder not in situ. I would think it can belong to aistopod but i need the professional ID, maybe someone would be able to identify family or order by this fragment? The big 2.6 cm diameter rhizodont scale is also found in this boulder. Best Regards Domas- 2 replies

Dear Guys, Few months ago I found this shark tooth in Juodikiai quarry, Klaipeda district Western Lithuania. It is 6 mm length and it does not have upper part of crown. Judging by the contour of the sides the tooth had to be quite long. Please help with ID of this tooth specimen. Regards Domas-

Good morning everyone! I have some bivalves found in dark marl erratic boulders of Klaipeda district (western Lithuania) and I hardly can find information about two specimens I show here in the photos. The first looks like pholadomyoid (oblong and with radial ridges) and the other looks like arcid or cardiid (it has rays in the lower edge of shell). Please help to identify genera of these two bivalves if you could. Best Regards Domas

Good morning everyone, Few days ago I was in Klaipeda district with my godmother and collected many bivalve fossils in black and brown marine erratic boulders. The majority of rocks should be typical to Jurassic, some ammonites and bivalves I recently identified speaks that there should be many specimens from Toarcian- Aalenian and younger ages. I would be very happy if you help me to know the precise age of each bivalve specimen because then I would know the age of each erratic boulder and bivalve species that I could use in my further publication about mollusc fossils. Best Regards Domas

Dear Guys, Few days ago I found this dipnoan tooth and I very need to know which dipnoan it belongs to. The length is 6 mm, by me it looks very Ceratodus like but the longitudinal odontode rows speak about Ctenodontid possibility. Please help me to decide which dipnoan is this. I saw Metaceratodus looks similar but this genus is known only in Australia and Patagonia. The fossil is found in Juodikiai quarry, Klaipeda district, Northwestern Lithuania. Best Regards Domas

Possible Miocene seeds probably from fruits found in Northwestern Lithuania
D.N.FossilmanLithuania posted a topic in Fossil ID
Dear Guys, Few years ago I was in Juodikiai quarry (Klaipeda district, Northwestern Lithuania) and found these two seeds in dark sapropelite erratics. The first looks grape like (protuberant vertical line in center and small tail in bottom), the other is flattened and becomes thicker going to central part in vertical. It looks like barrel in shape. The both seeds are small, about 1,5 mm length. The age of erratics and families of plants would be very helpful because knowing the age in the same erratic group maybe I will find mammals, other tetrapods or other nuts that are not known in Lithuanian fossils. Any help will be appreciated! Best Regards Domas- 2 replies
