I am doing a prep from the 18 inch later. The head and ribs seem to look like Diplomystus, but I am still unsure. It might just be a huge Knightia. I think this specimen might be 7 or so inches long.

I just bought this green river fish and couln't figure out what species it was. It also looks like it is preserved from the bottom of the fish instead of the side.

Here are some Before & After photos of the 2nd and 3rd fish at practiced prepping, and 1 coat of butvar. I sent 7 fossils off for professional prep and haVE about 35 full fish I'm going to do some art projects with and hang in a wooden frame. I used a razor blade, Q tip, and safety pin.

Hi everyone! Can you help me ID this fish? My friend give me this one but he don't know the provenance of it, so I think it maybe belong to common fish such as knightia / Lycoptera / Dastilbe that are sale on many fossil shop. It preserved an eye as well and still have a up fin near the end. Thank you.

Hello Fossil enthusiasts! Im new to this forum, and am already here needing help identifying a fossil! I recently came into possession of this fossil of a fish. While I initially believed it to be a member of the Knightia genus, I am now quite unsure what I have here. The man I purchased it from said it was from asia, possibly china, but I am unsure of the authenticity of that claim. I don't have a tape measure on me, but the slate itself is approximately 9cm long. Any help is appreciated!

I was thinking this is a Knightia but now I’m not so sure. The body shape seems wrong and it does not appear to be compressed. @Fossildude19 @RJB
