We bought a fixer-upper on Lake Erie at Ashtabula, Ohio, this past year. We were at the property yesterday knowing that most of the winter ice likely melted. We found this on our property above the beach. It's about the size of a basketball. I'll post 4 pics. one top view then one bottom view without flash then both again with flash. Any and all comments appreciated.

Hi, I found 2 large fossils on th e shores of Lake Erie Ontario and I do not have a clue what they are. Both of these fossils are approximately 24" in diameter. Can someone identify them?

Here’s some more upper Devonian fish parts from The shore of Lake Erie. Mostly black Cashaqua and Rhinestreet shale found at Sturgeon Point area. An actinoptergyian skull roof , possible Sarcopterygian caudal fin, placoderm bone fragment, a fish skull piece and jaw (unidentified)

Found in Lake Erie , Sandusky Ohio. Looks like a snail shape to me. It’s not very big - smaller than a penny. Just thought I’d gather some information on it. Thanks for any information.

I found these on the shore of Lake Erie, on Catawba island (west of Cleveland, Ohio). Any help identifying would be greatly appreciated. Pic 1, the creature is about the size of a fly or ladybug. Pic 2 &3 are the same fossil and the rock is about the size of a baseball. Pic 4 & 5, the rock is about the size of a golf ball or an egg.

Hello everyone, my name is Nolan. I'm new to the forum. I've never posted anything before, but now I find myself at a loss to identify my latest find. Any help you can give me would be really appreciated! INFO Location: Fort Erie, Ontario. Details: It's rough with random black spots. The item is ridged on both sides and it has a slight curve to it. The main body of the item has a different texture (see final photo). The top has a different type of brown stone connected to it. The item was found by chance on a beach, on the northern side of Lake Erie, by the town of Fort Erie. It's currently spring time and the ice is just starting to melt of the beaches. I've attached some photos below that should help with identifying the item. If you require other information or photos just let me know. Thank you for your time!

At Lake Erie this morning I was walking along the shore and found this rock, which has an imprint of a bivalve shell in it. I was looking through the collections of bivalves on this site and it seems similar to a cockle shell, but I was hoping someone a bit more knowledgeable than I am might help me to correctly identify it. I tried to get the best detail of it that I could, and I also have pictures showing size as well as ones showing other sides of the rock, in case that might help with identification. If you would like additional angles/pictures, just ask. Thank you in advance for any help!

Hello everyone! I am an amateur fossil hunter, I live near Lake Erie and go there several times a week looking for fossils, quartz, anything of interest. A while ago I found a single vertebra right at the shore, and picked it up immediately. Upon closer examination I saw it was fossilized (or at least I think it is! Please correct me if you think otherwise, I'm still learning!) I love having things like this in my collection but I do understand that identifying much of anything from one vertebra would be very difficult, but I figured I would post here anyways just in case. If anyone knows what this could be from or wants more information, please post below.

Any clue what this is? It's about the size of a quarter, but thicker. It was found on a Lake Erie beach in OH (30 minutes west of Cleveland, OH). Most fossils from this area are from Dovinian period. It looks like a bunch of shells stuck in chocolate. Are these crinoids?

My sons and I found this rock on the shores of Lake Erie near Point Pelee on the Canadian shores. Doubt it’s anything too special, but it’s by far the largest cluster of fossils we’ve ever found. If anyone has any insights it would be appreciated. My sons really want to know more about it. Thanks in advance. If there is interest I can post pictures that are closer up.

Either corals or echinoids are my best guess here. More of mom's stuff from Pelee Island, Canada.

Hey guys. I've been extremely ill, and missing my fossils. Staying with my mom for a while, she pulled out a box of fossils she found on the shore at Pelee Island, Canada on Lake Erie. It's near Cedar Point, and Port Clinton Ohio. Some I was able to identify for her, but I don't know these. I'm pretty sure one is just suggestive stone, and not a worn tooth, but I'll ask that one too for verification. First one looks like a cephalopod to me, but I am not familiar with this area's fossils. The second one is a vertebrae from something. The third is the one I'm pretty sure is just rock, but double checking. The last one, I just don't have a clue. More pictures coming in reply.
