ok i found this today amd my guess it is a tooth or teeth of a mammal .. could be a goat or something, i found it on shore of a lake next to an ancient village site. when that village was thriving some 2000 years ago, there was no lake but there was a river. Also the earth's color at the spot was reddish which would mean mammals i think.

A couple years ago I was on vacation in Wayne county Ohio, and I stepped on something in a lake I picked it up and found this. Originally, I thought it was a shell piece, but when I looked again it looked like a trilobite because of the three lines. I know it’s partial so I’m unsure if I’ll get an ID but I hope I do. Ignore the scratch marks, I tried uncovering more but the rock is very hard and impossible to clear with a small tool.

Hey everyone, New user here, very minor experience with fossils. I was curious if anyone would be interested in possibly identifying some specimens from Lake Michigan, from North Shore Beach in Ferrysburg, Michigan. It's on the West Coast of Michigan, but it would be the Eastern side of the Lake. Hope that isn't too confusing and I hope that I find you all well during these trying times. I have a couple more as well, if it's cool. Thanks for reading. Here are my humble hypotheses: 1: Some sort of Petoskey/Charlevoix stone or similar perhaps. 2: Coral? 3? 4? 5? 6? 7/8: Arrowhead shards or shards from producing an arrowhead? 9? 10? 11? 12/13: Horn Coral with a zebra mussel shell inside it?

I stopped at Lake McConaughy (near Ogalalla, Nebraska) on my way out to Colorado and picked this (along with some nice burrow casts, probably clam) from one of the beaches. I’m not very familiar with the fossils in this part of the state and wondered if anyone could help me with who this chunk of bone may have belonged to. I know it’s a stretch to id this considering how little of the bone is there and the lack of either end, but any help would be appreciated.

Hey guys! I’m currently out fishing on a lake (Champaign County, IL) and I noticed a bunch of fossils strewn about the rocks on the shore. I don’t think the rocks are from here, so I don’t know if I could give any geologic info unfortunately. If you could help me figure out what I’ve got, I’d really appreciate it! Here are some more lake wetland Miocene plant fossils from NE of Phoenix. I found large outcrops of silicified reeds in growth position. I found several pieces of palm: a first for this area. Photos 1 & 2: palm. Photos 3 & 4: top and bottom of reeds. Photos 5 & 6: more reeds.

Hello, I'm new here. Somebody suggested this site to me for help so here it goes. I found this item about 6-7 years ago in a lake while diving for remains. I ended up finding this. (buried under the sand) I have always wondered what it belonged to, and on another site I posted it nobody really had a clue either. It went from bear claw,boar to bird, etc... Nobody truly had a clue just idea's of what it could be. Now I have been really curious about what this actually is. If anyone has a clue please tell me. I can take more photo's if needed, the hole you see from below, it's not empty, meaning you can see in it but it's not empty would you put a toothpick in it, only a small part would go in . Location found: Italy, lake Bolsena => (picture of lake) Wildlife of Bolsena does seem to range from small to some medium sized birds... I haven't really come across to many other bigger animals there. Also today 15/08/2018 somebody send me this on the other side, this person believes it belongs to a bear (showing her example) of a Marsican Bear

Hi all, I found this one seven years ago along the western shore of Georgian Bay, Ontario. It looked to me like the footprint of a very small theropod of some sort, but it might just be a misleadingly shaped rock. Any help would be appreciated!

Hello new to The Forum I found this fossil a few years back in a lake in Northern Missouri on a rocky area on shore it's a little over an inch long rounded. kind of looks like a tooth but really just do not know what it is. Both of these were found in Middle Tennessee, not far from Nashville. The area is now a lake, but use to be a river before a dam was built. The first one with the indentations is about 3 inches in length. The one that looks like a bone (but probably isn't?) is about 5.5 inches long and 2.5 inches tall at its tallest point. Any ideas? thanks.

I'm sure this is a common fossil. I have already browsed through goggle, but cant find it. I found it on the beach of lake Michigan in Michigan. The beach was so crowed with crinoid stems fossils, I didn't even bother collecting them. But I find something long shaped with spikey things on the bottom and the top. it wont let me add pictures. never mind, it added the pictures the top and the bottom have spikes. both sides have those ridges

Good afternoon! On a recent trip to Lake Bastrop in central Texas my dog dug up this rock along the shore. It's a very clay/muddy lake with plenty of greenery, it seemed pretty run of the mill at first with some broken shell fragments but an odd hole on one side with markings around it was confusing. I'm definitely new to this so forgive me if I don't know the terminology, but the hole is about 3/4 inch deep. There are what look like scales at various points around the rock. Thank you!

I found this close to a lake where My famaiky has a cottage and I do not know much about fossils. There appears to be a creature of some sorts as well as a salt water shell even though we are thousands of miles from any salt water.

I ate breakfast then arrived at the site around 12. Looked on the hills outside the lake. I found some ammonite fragments and 1 echinoid. Went to the lake and immediately found some oysters and ammonite fragments. Walked for 30 minutes and my mom found some Echinoids. I didn't find any because I was looking at the cliffs. Found a promising ammonite but it turned out not whole. Walked a mile and found some solid limestone and found two ammonites. Could only get one of them out and I took in situ pics of both. Lastly I found some clams and one more ammonite which was out of the ground. Left the lake around 4:40 and got home at 6. Here are my finds.

I found this on the shore of a lake. At first I thought it was a petrified mushroom. It looks very similar to a mushroom. But, someone mentioned it could possibly be a horn coral. I really have no fossil knowledge so I'm just interested in what this possibly could be. It's very cool looking.

Hi everyone! When I was a little kid I found this fossil while swimming in Lake Cumberland in Kentucky. I've always cherished it, but now I kinda what to know what the heck it is! I'm guessing some sorta nut or seed, but I'd like to get more specific answers. Any ideas?? Thanks!
