LOCATION: Orange County, CA Hi. I found this bone in a pile of rocks along a wall adjacent to the railroad that runs along my house. The bone is fairly large and doesn’t look to be very old. Any idea on what animal it belongs to or what type of bone this is? I included a photo of the spot where I found it. thanks, james larkins

I went to my happy place again today. Not the volume of finds from last Wednesday. Early I found this 11.2 x 7.8 cm bone. Is it a pelvic bone ? an Atlas Vertebra ? a skull cap ? I have no clue. I am pretty certain that I do not have a bone like this in my body and I know that I have never found one previously. Hopefully someone recognizes it... @Harry Pristis @Boesse @digit

So my husband found this heavily mineralized bone while we were hunting in southeast Texas with @Lorne Ledger. Mostly Pleistocene age material in the area. It was too dirty to identify then. I've cleaned it up, and I've been struggling to ID it. It has a large, thick base but dramatically thins toward the outside (similar to how a scapula would, but I'm not sure it's the right shape for one.) So far my best guess has been a partial ilium to a large quadraped since there aren't many bones that flatten out like a fan in that way. I've included a picture of a wooly rhino ilium off a sales site first, not to argue it as a possibility, but as an example of the general similarities to a large ilium that I noticed in shape. @JohnJ @Lorne Ledger @garyc@darrow@Shellseeker@Harry Pristis @digit Any help would be fantastic. My boss was at it again and he and his wife found another collection of bone, teeth,fossilized wood, and turtle shell along the banks of the Brazos River, TX. Attached a few pictures and I have it at my desk currently so would be happy to take more/or better shots. Portion had broken off (that's why he gave it to me yay!) which I might try and reattach. Was back at the Peace River, FL yesterday and happy to find recent rains had not impacted the water level or flow by much at all. Went back to the area where I previously found Proboscidean carpal, patella, jaw and tibia bones. After several hours of digging in a grid pattern I came up with what I believe is a well preserved calcaneum from a mammoth or mastodon. I would appreciate any input on this being a correct ID or not. Thanks.

Found this bone on the Peace River, FL today. I was searching a new spot when several pieces of ivory tusk were found and I could feel some large bone material under water but was having trouble bringing it up. When it finally surfaced I first thought - vertebrae - and I am still leaning that way. It is approximately 6 3/4" x 6 3/4" x 5 1/4" and heavy. Question is, if vertebra - from what? I would appreciate any input, opinions, comments. Thanks. Also found there today was a tapir molar, mastodon and mammoth tooth fragments, horse teeth and many shark teeth.

Interesting fossilized bone texture. Large mammal. Brazos River, TX

Hi Everyone, I found an interesting large bone fragment in the Brazos River, outside of Harris County, Texas. The fragment has a thick sidewall, so I am guessing it is from a large mammal, possibly mammoth. The thing that I can't wrap my head around is the odd pocket-like texture exhibited on one side of the bone. Could these odd pockets help in the identification of this fossil? Also, I have attached a picture of 2 antlers from the Brazos. They both look like they are whitetail deer antlers to me. One is much larger than the other, possibly due to age and nutrition of the animal? Thanks for checking them out.
