Green River Formation Leaf and Insect Fossil Trip
Fossilized Dad posted a topic in Fossil Hunting Trips
Hi All, This past summer, my daughter and I went to a couple of sites in the Green River Formation to look for leaf and insect fossils. Here's a video we made about our trip and findings. We also visited the Field House of Natural History in Vernal and the curator took us on a tour of the collection. cheers, Lloyd- 13 replies

Hey all, Picked this up as a gift for my girlfriend's brother. Today's his birthday and I figured I'd try and start his fossil collection... I asked the shopowner for details but she said her mother must have received this one something like 50 years ago. Dead end. If anybody has any guesses I'd love to be able to tell him what he now owns! Thank you guys so much!

Hi there! I am brand new to the forum, but have been a fossil lover all my life. I am hoping to learn the best way to preserve sandstone leaf fossils. I've been finding them since I was a kid and my mother use to coat they in polyurethane, I believe. I'm just not convinced this is the best practice. I imagine the chemicals would deteriorate the stone overtime? Anyways, I would appreciate any and all advice. Thanks in advance! Dea

Hi! I'm an amateur rockhound, mainly hunting in the Bighorn Basin in north-western Wyoming. I found this on the bank of the Shoshone River outside of Powell, WY. I'm curious to what kind of leaf it it and how old the fossil itself might be.
