While cleaning out some stuff, I found one of those toy cameras that click between slides. These things are only a few bucks for a twelve-pack, and I probably got it from someone’s birthday party when I was little. The magnifying lens works quite well for the price. Tested it on some crinoid bits with epibionts. Hederella filiformis on a crinoid bit. Ascodictyon sp. on a brachiopod fragment. Bryozoan encrustation on a crinoid stem fragment. Some more Hederella on a crinoid stem. Two views of a crinoid holdfast and bryozoan on a Aulocystis jacksoni. Some more Ascodictyon sp. A few more crinoid holdfasts on crinoid stems. A picture of the lens, and the crinoid bits with a nickel for scale. And lastly, my tiny enrolled meraspid Lonchodomas mcgeheei.

Today, I stopped at one of those stores that sells Amazon returns. On Fridays they replenish the store and everything is $8.00, but today, they had everything for $6.00. I found a cool little case that I opened up and it had an attachment for a cell phone camera. I bought it to give it a shot and it works out very well. This first picture is a standard shot at 1x, without the attachment. This next picture is zoomed all of the way in, without the attachment. This picture is with the macro attachment on the camera at 1x. This gives me the same results of the camera when zoomed all the way in without the attachment on. The top picture and the below picture are almost exact. This last picture is zoomed all of the way in with the macro attachment on. I really like the results of this and it should work very well when taking close-up shots.

I have several peices of Cretaceous Lens from Eagle Ford and decided to investigate it further, dissolving in vinegar and picking at it and so far came up with these. The one in the matrix looks like tooth or claw maybe, the base of it turns to white but it's eaten away and hard to see in picture. The other things are different, there are quite a few I can see in the big peices some are so small I can't photograph them. Urchin spines are the closest things I've seen to these but really don't know. The pen tip is next to objects for size comparison.
