  1. Hi all from the UK. Brand new to this kind of forum, so please bear with me. Basically, I have a whole bunch of fossils I have picked up all over Britain. They fascinate me. Always wanted to get them ID'd but didn't know how. Then out walking, I found this thing the other day, and it's just too intriguing! So here I am! I was walking our dogs, along the edge of arable farm land - mid Lincolnshire. its really rocky land and the ploughs pull up all sorts. I found this horn/tooth shaped rock with a different coloured, darker core going through it. It's now around 65mm long, but looks like it has lost some off both ends. I have tried to capture as best I can. Any thoughts appreciated. The cross section is the 'bottom' - the fatter end. The other one is the break at the top. Thanks James

    Vertebra identification

Hi, my first post on this forum and probably not the most exciting for regulars on here. I found this fossilised vertebra while walking our dog on Mablethorpe beach, part of the Lincolnshire coastline. This is not a usual place to find fossils, however it's around 40km south of the Withernsea cliffs which release many fossils as they erode at a rapid rate. This is my first ever proper fossil find, so to me is quite a big deal. My son who's a geologist reckons it may be from a shark. The only thing that makes me doubt this is the fact that there appears to be a groove where the spinal column may have run with two locations either side where something has snapped off. Perhaps it is from a large fish. The material is fossilised and definitely not bone or cartilage.

    Wondering what these are

Hello, I'm wondering what these are. All three of them are about a centimetre long and around 5 millimetres wide, they were found on Skegness beach, on the eastern coast of Lincolnshire, UK. They are roughly cylindrical and ribbed, with the cross-section being a kind of star shape. look forward to hearing back

    What is this?

Hello, I'm wondering what the fossils in this rock are. there is a large one surrounded by multiple small ones at different angles within the rock, and the fossils look very mushroom-like, although i may be wrong. The whole rock is around 2.3cm on its longest side, the largest fossil is about 1cm in diameter and the rest are all about 0.5cm or less. found in the gravel of a drive in Skegness, Lincolnshire so it may have come from elsewhere. hope to hear back
