    Dutch Creek

I have read that fossils and shark teeth can be found in a place called Dutch Creek. Does any one know where it is located?
  2. Hey y'all, I live in Albuquerque. I have a fascination of fossils or obsession with them. I have been interested in fossils since I was a little guy, since my first dinosaur toy at age 5. As I grew older my interest in fossils and the process to find them has grown increasingly, as for me it's like a treasure hunt. You can say I am an avid hunter of fossils. I want to look in new places that I haven't and find ones I don't have. Thank you for letting me connect with other like minded people. I love NM, the abundance of fossils are far beyond what we think. Trust me, the land of enchantment lives up to its name.

    Resources for choosing sites

Hi guys, I was wondering if you had any resources or methods you like to use when choosing sites to fossil hunt? Are there maps of public land? Are the only options fossil specific parks, and asking someone with land? Whats your scoop/etiquette? Places within a couple hours from Central Texas? Thanks!

    Coronocephalus?

This Coronocephalus trilobite just arrived in the mail. I don't really know a lot about them. I believe it is most likely C. gaoluoensis. I do know its from Hunan, China, but not much else. Middle Silurian? Anyone got any info? Also, what do you guys think of the fossil? I quite like it even though it needs to be cleaned up a little. Thanx!
  7. I am currently staying in Pigeon forge in Tennesse, and am looking forward to a spring break with tons of new specimens (and maybe even a FOTUM entry?(excuse my current inability to find a way to get better pictures of my bivalve last month)). Being a state very abundant in Ordovician fossils, I have heard across the internet that Tennessee is LITTERED with specimens (especially Nashville, not to mention a site being at a Target). I would willingly take the 3 and a half hour trip from pigeon forge and hunt in Nashville all day each day of the week, but before I went through the trouble of going to such lengths, I was wondering if there were any fossil sites closer to Pigeon forge where you could find specimens (not including Cades Cove), as I cannot find of any said sites on the internet. Any ideas? Thanks!
  8. This is a great resource to see where "scientifically" document fossils have been located, with documentation. Just click on launch navigator, you can filter over the map by any search term or by time! https://paleobiodb.org/#/

    Nebraska Fossils? Help?

Hello, I live in Omaha, Nebraska and am looking to go fossil hunting soon (possibly tomorrow). I have Schramm Park listed as a place to visit (my Geology Professor recommended it), but I was wondering if there were any other locations in and around the area? The park is located in Gretna, NE, but I was curious if anyone knows of any locations near Ashland, South Bend, Weeping Water, etc.? I have a rock hammer, so I am equipped to be able to split rocks, and would love to be able to find locations to do so. I have visited a rock quarry in Crescent, IA before, but they are only available on weekends due to blasting. I am probably going with my Dad tomorrow (as long as the weather holds); he works nights and his nights off are Wednesdays and Thursdays. Any recommendations? I hope to find fish and trilobites (which my professor said are found more often south of Omaha), since I have a ton of Brachiopods and other shells already, but I am open to finding plants and other fossils. I'm just looking for exposures, creeks, or quarries.
  10. Hey everybody. I was reading about Barnum Brown's T-Rex discovery from 1902, and I couldn't seem to find a specific location anywhere! I know that the discovery was made in southeast Montana at a Hell Creek formation, but I need a more precise area. Does anyone happen to know?

    Tasmania Pliocene Amber?

I've heard there is Pliocene amber in Tasmania, Australia but I do not know specifically where it is collected or what te rules are surrounding collection And taking it out of the country as I'm visiting my grandfather there in 2 weeks and we might probably go get some amber if its near enough.
  12. I was wondering if anyone knows of any great locations in Scarborough to look for fossils that are easily accessible by foot. The reason I ask is I am semi-disabled and requires a cane for walking, meaning very steep hills are out the question for me until Scarborough Parks a Rec provide a shuttle to and from the Bluffs for those that want to go there but can not. I have done good so far in my fossil hunting and would love to explore new areas. I truly love fossil hunting and its quickly become a passion for me to explore a long lost world of what was to better understand it and share part of its beauty locked in a stone time capsule.
