Hello all, my wife and I are making the trip from Virginia Beach down to Summerville,Sc to hunt some creeks for the first time! We’ve been talking about going down there for years, and we finally decided to stop procrastinating and go!! We are very excited, but don’t know exactly where to start. We are going to look at a geological map and do some other research to find out what creeks we should start in. If any one on here has any tips or pointers about hunting here or can point us in the right direction, it would be much appreciated! Also does rainfall affect hunting any of the creeks there? Thanks for any advise, @bnm_fossils

Hello all, I will be in the Charleston/Summerville area this weekend and a few days into the week. If anyone has any suggestions on where I can try to look for shark teeth, please let me know via PM. I can trade spot locations for some Paleozoic fossils or Mesozoic shark teeth. Next week, I will write a trip report on how things go, I am hoping to find my first tooth over 2.5”, I probably won’t get a chance to find something like that for several more years. Wish me luck!

My buddy just pulled this Gomphotherium Tooth out of a river in South Carolina about 3 hrs ago. Thought it was nice enough find to show to you guys. Super rare from the Low Country. It also looks as if something is imbedded in the tooth. 5.5" long x 3"wide. weight 3lbs
