Hello Everyone! It's been a minute since I've had the pleasure of finding any fossils worth posting here, but I was lucky enough today to squeeze in a couple hours of hunting. I noticed several sets of footprints around my usual hunting site - others had picked through the material recently. Undeterred, I made my way along the river visually scouring every square inch of exposed grey-brown Oligocene formation and gravel. Im glad I stuck with it because I was rewarded with several nice (albeit small) teeth from the extinct mega-tooth white shark, Carcharocles angustidens as well as a slew of smaller teeth. Then, just as I was ready to start hiking back to the car, I noticed the root of a VERY large mako tooth sticking out of the ground. When I pulled it up I was reminded of the sword in the stone..it just kept going and going. At a little over 2.8" it's one of the largest Isurus desori teeth I've ever personally seen. It's in great condition with exceptional color to boot. Thanks for taking a look and as always... Happy hunting! SOSC

Hi! I was introduced to shark tooth hunting on the beach about 15 years ago by my MIL. It has become my favorite past time while at the beach. We recently purchased a home in Georgetown, SC, and I have heard there are great spots to hunt in Summerville, SC and surrounding areas of Charleston. How do i get started with where to go? I have never searched in creeks or riverbeds, but I would love to spend a day searching. Any maps or advice for me on where to start or go? Thanks!

I apologize for the subpar pictures, they were taken in a hurry at my boyfriends house. We went beach combing along a river "beach" about a mile, as the bird flies from the ICW in South Carolina. His daughter found what appears be a vertebra? I really don't have the slightest inclination.

This is something I found most recently, at a sandbar in a coastal South Carolina creek. I don't have the slightest idea what it could be. My 7 year old is convinced that it is a fossil of an ancient loggerhead sea turtle lol. I think that its probably a piece of I don't know but its interesting enough for me to stick in my pocket to bring home lol any help is greatly appreciated

Hi everyone! I'm fairly new to Beaufort, SC. Recently moved up from FL where I hunted Peace River a lot. I'm hoping to connect with other fossil hunters in the area and maybe gain some local knowledge. I've watched a ton of videos of nice megalodon teeth being found in Summerville/Charleston area land sites, creeks, ditches. What I'm looking for is the possibility of similar sites here in Beaufort County but I don't know enough about local formations to draw any conclusions. I'm not a diver yet so my main focus is on land at the moment. I've hunted the sands at Port Royal with minimal success (the occasional small meg) but I'm really looking for the bigger stuff. I also have a kayak if that helps! Any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi, Google led me here and it seems like a great site with tons of people with a lot of knowledge. I am hoping to spend some time with my son looking for fossils in the low country area. Thanks, Alex

I found a few of these in a river mixed in with sharks teeth, bone fragments and vertebrae. What are they?
