Hey all, I've been going through some of my finds from one of my trips up to Madison County, NY and came across something that I think may be a Monoplacaphoran. Monoplacophorans are mollusks with small, cap like shells that resemble snails (gastropods) but are not. This was found in the Ludlowville Formation (Devonian, Givetian stage) at the Geer Rd. quarry, Madison, NY. As it stands I can't seem to fins anything in the literature regarding a monoplacophoran short of Cyrtonella pileolus, but that species has a beak that curves back only one volution (only makes one turn and does not repeat). Any comments or suggestions are welcomed. -Dave
