Hi all, I need your help if possible in identifying these 3 fossils I found this month at Manasota Key, FL. They were found laying on top on the sand at the shoreline. Found this on the beach ( low tide ) at Manasota Key, Florida. This area is known for fossil shark teeth from the Peace River formation. Is this a fossil turtle, tortoise or a rock concretion? Thanks

We found these 2 fossils on the beach tonight. I am thinking some mammal, but I can’t figure out how to even start identifying it. I’d appreciate some help. It’s making me just a little excited :-).

Down again from Minnesota searching for treasures. I found this a couple days after the last storm on a shell strewn sand bar. Looks like maybe a Dire Wolf tooth sans the root. Looking for confirmation or a id if something else. I have found walrus, ground sloth, and tapir material in the past and another oddity would be nice to add to the collection. Thanks in advance.

This next fossil is long and thin, with lots of detail on each side. It has a slight bend and distinct marks on one end that made me think it might be a tooth of some kind, but maybe not from something in the ocean/sea. Any thoughts?

This long, black, and concave fossil looks like a fin, flipper, or something to that magnitude because of how smooth and dynamic it looks and feels. Any suggestions for this?

This looks like the half of a Meg tooth that has lost all of its enamel. I haven't seen one like this before, but it has all of the characteristics of a meg tooth. Can anyone confirm or debunk this?

I found this while walking on the beach before sunset today. Need help identifying it, if possible. Based on limited research and comparisons, the fossil is no doubt a vertebrae and looks very similar to some I have seen associated with a Mosasaur. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP OR IDEAS THAT MAY BE GIVEN!!!

I'm not sure what this is. It was found on Englewood beach and a found a similar one father north on the key.

We have checked every identification chart, but this tooth is very hard for us to identify. The base looks like snaggletooth, but it's curved pretty good. It's a little over an inch long. We found it in Manasota key on Englewood beach in Florida.

Please excuse the quality of the pics, they were taken with my iPad. These two were found in a shell wash on Manasota Beach, Englewood Fl. One looks like a limb bone, and the second one maybe a partial periotic bone? Thanks in advance.

Hi Fossil and rock hounds, I found this strange looking piece when looking through my shark teeth. Found it on Manasota Key beach, Florida. I thought it was some vertebrae bone but than I saw 2 barnacles in what might be a grouping of shells. It also has pockets of limestone and small black bones or rocks cemented in some of the pockets and has some weight to it. It is about 2x2". Posted 5 photos of different angles. Has anybody ever seen anything like this? What is it? Thanks All.

Hi Fossil Finders, I found this on the beach at Manasota Key, Florida along with whale bones and sharks teeth. Front and back photo below. I looked in my book at it looks similar to the pufferfish or porcupine fish mouth plate. Would you agree? Thanks in advance!

What are Your Most Significant Finds in Florida?

I never knew that Florida had such a plethora of fossil hunting opportunities. I have visited Venice Beach twice and found fossil shark teeth, fossil plant (most likely Crinoidea) impressions in rock, and fossil shells. I have wanted to visit the Peace River formation for a while now, and I know that there are other spots in Florida that seem to hold some promise. So I'm curious, since I'm basically just starting out hunting for fossils myself rather than buying them, as to what some people who also fossil hunt in Florida have found, and where you found it? -
Any ideas what animal? Appears to be bone. Found on beach on Manasota Key FL. Measures 3" wide by a tad over 2.5 wide, about 1/2" thick. Appears to have part of edge broken off in one area but then worn rounded as other edges. Also note 2 marks (indentions) Could these be bite marks? Could this be from a vertebra? Learning so much on TFF and enjoying so much!
