I found this gorgeous crocodile tooth along the Calvert Cliffs and it looks like it has some strange white staining on it. Rinsing it with warm soapy water doesn’t seem to do anything. Is there a good way to clean off the stains or is that just how the tooth is. Thank you!

Had another early morning today, first time out since the time change so getting in the water for sunrise was a little difficult. None the less I launched the kayak around 6am and watched a beautiful sunrise on the water, then got to the beach to begin searching. Not to long after getting to the beach I found a great hastalis measuring 2.02” (my second biggest) and a few steps away found a nice little cow shark tooth! It slowed down from there finding a large fish vert (my largest) with the rest of my finds being a little further apart. Talked to a fellow fossil hunter on the beach who found a beautiful megalodon around 2.5” with great color, I was a bit jealous but it’s always nice to see other peoples finds. On the walk back to the kayak I found a nice little micro meg and some dolphin teeth to wrap the trip up. Another great day on the bay, I’ll be back soon!

Hello good people of the forum, I found some fossils along up a Chesapeake Bay beach north of Calvert Cliffs. I am curious about this one which seems to have some kind of pattern and I wonder if it is a fossil (It’s the first two photos which are both sides of the item). I am also very curious about this collection of what looks like big barnacles. If anyone had any information to share about either of these I would be very interested thank you!

Launch my kayak early this morning and got to the beach a little before sunrise. Hoping off my kayak I took maybe five steps and BOOM my find of the year! A 2 3/4” Squalodon! The sun hadn’t even created the water yet, I couldn’t believe it. I continued on only about 40 feet away from my kayak and I spotted a pretty little Meg tumbling in the wash. By the end of my walk I had found the normal array of teeth with a stunning Hastalis and nice Hemi and dolphin teeth to round out the trip. I’ve had some pretty good hunts this season but this is hands down my best!… So far…. PS: Squalodon whitmorei or Squalodon calvertensis?

I decided to call out of work for my birthday and hit the beach to do some hunting. I kayaked out about 2hrs before low tide and had the beach all to myself the whole day. Found three dolphin teeth right after I landed my kayak, good sign for the day. Found some big hemis and a pretty chub on the walk, then when I got to my kayak I noticed the big shark vert partially buried right next to it! Definitely a better way to spend my birthday than working!

Kayaked out of Plum Point/Breezy Point this morning to do so searching. Almost right away I found a nice little cow shark tooth and a big hemi, then just a little later saw a small Meg sitting right on top of the sand. Love the complete Atlas vert as well, my first in that position!

Kayaked out early this morning and had the beach all to myself. The water was a little rough when I got there but by the time low tide had come around the bay flattened out and the water cleared up. I found some Hemis with some real nice size, and got really lucky with 3 cow shark teeth. Then the usual spread of teeth and a nice little retroflexus. Great day out on the bay!

Got out early to Douglas Point on the Potomac river, unfortunately the water was high, rough, and dark. Didn’t find much but I managed the biggest and most complete ray plate I’ve ever found and a decent croc tooth with some great umber color to it!

Recent trip to Calvert cliffs, finally was able to get a boat out on the water after years of planning. Did pretty well, I’m hoping the haul is a little bigger next time because it’s a lot of paddling. Here’s the haul. This is a large whale vertebra I found. All the shark teeth I found at Calvert. The large mako was in a fall and I was hoping it was whole but alas, the time was broke. Oh well. Still a not bad day.
