This was found in Scotland, unfortunately not sure exactly where. A friend suggested it could be part of a fossilized bryozoan colony and I was hoping to get confirmation or a correction.

Georgemckenzie posted a topic in Fossil ID
Found these today in a gravel that’s high in minerals and fossils one of them looks to be shells in the rock and the other I’m not sure if it’s a fossil or not thanks for any help if someone can -
Any thoughts on what these could be? And if a case of the dreaded JAR, what kind of jar, please? thanks!

I recently dug this rock out of a pile I have next to my house near Grand Rapids MI. I know I put it there many years ago but I can't be sure it originated from this area. There are a lot of things I don't know about this thing. I posted it on a rock forum and showed it to some rock hound friends and they all seem mystified. Some of them suggested that it could be a fossil. Maybe a type of sponge? That could have been a wild guess but I'm hoping someone here can confirm or deny that for me. It seems to be all quartz of one sort or another but the interesting thing is that it seems to be made up of pieces like a conglomerate but with almost no material between them. It reminds me of monkey bread, if you know what that is. Also, a lot of the pieces are solid on the outside but porous and sort of grainy on the inside. Enough rambling! Please let me know what you think. And let me know if you need any more photos or other information. Thanks!

Hello, I found this specimen in a creek just west of Kansas City, KS. Kill Creek it's called. It was nestled behind a large rock. Not sure what it could be at all. Can provide more/higher res pictures if needed. Thanks.

I got this at a place that sells bulk rocks. It was in a batch of rocks meant to be stepping stones, and I have no idea where in the world it's from. I know it's too messed up to ID well at all, I'm just wondering what general category of animal this is. My best guess is it's the outside of a large fish skull. There's nothing inside the slab, and the area in the right side of the pic looks like a shattered gill plate to me. It's about 8" across, and the rock it's in feels harder than most limestone I've come across. I didn't see any other fossils in the other slabs, and I doubt the stepping-stone-store is selling rocks from a rich fossil site. Any idea? I'd be happy with just "yeah, that's definitely a fish" or something similar. It's staying outside as a stepping stone, as I'm of the opinion that all stepping stone paths should have a large and interesting stone to stop on, and it's definitely not in good enough shape to be worth displaying. It's neat, though.
