Hello fossil forum, Recently we were out hiking in the Coulee near Medicine Hat, Alberta! As newbie fossil enthusiasts, we were hoping for some expert weigh ins to help identify this fossilized bone we found. We have some very interest kids (and adults!) who were hoping to narrow it done from Chunkasaurus, to hopefully, a general species. ID or no ID, we do appreciate any direction on this! The Newbies

I was given this from my grandfather who collected it around Medicine Hat, Alberta. I believe it was likely in the 1920's. I believe it is an ammonite but wondering if you can tell me more.

I hammered this free from a chunk of ironstone. Ironstone matrix. I thought it was completely round like a marble nut the more I inspected I see some traits that this is a designed specimen with a symmetrical pattern and some unique patterns. Any ideas?
