Hi, I am looking for a megalodon expert to help me see restorations on a tooth. I was told the tooth had minor restorations on the root and rear of the tooth. Can you tell be these pictures if that is correct and if there are other restorations done? Thank you for your time

Hi everyone! I received this tooth when I was younger, and never thought much of verifying it until now. Could anyone help in telling me if this Megalodon tooth is real or a replica? Thank you!

My 8 year old son has been saving his allowance for some time so he can get a nice Spinosaurus tooth. He will have about 350.00-400.00 saved up soon. I have read several things on repairs and fakes, but still do not have great confidence in what I am looking at. I have found a few sites that appear to be reputable, but I am concerned about spending this much money on a tooth still. I am wanting him to make a good investment and it sounds like Spinosaurus teeth are not all that rare but over 4" seems to be a more unusual tooth. In the 350.00-400.00 range what size tooth should we expect to get? Is there another fossil that would be a better purchase for him in this price range? He already has a 5" and 3.5" Megalodon tooth he bought by saving his money.

4.98 inch New Caledonia / Deep South Pacific Megalodon tooth

This is a pretty rare condition for a New Caledonia tooth period, much less one that is just shy of 5 inches. This tooth has intact enamel and even very faint serrations. Anyone who is familiar with this location knows that most Megs from here are very worn down and usually only marketable as polished teeth. This is a rare exception. This 4.98 inch Megalodon tooth is from the South Pacific Ocean about 800 miles east of Australia near the small island of New Caledonia. Teeth from this location were found on the ocean floor at dredged depths of about 1000 feet. The permits that allowed dredging of this area expired in the early 2000's, so no new teeth from this site there after. Truly a remarkable fossil treasure from deep depths of the ocean floor. -

This is one of my favorites! It's a 6.2 inch Chilean meg. No repair or restoration. Great enamel, bourlette, root, and serrations. Small bit of feeding dmage to the tip...probably broke it off while attacking a whale. One of the crown jewels of my collection.© ©
