  1. Hey everyone! I'm Justin from SW Florda. I recently got stationed out of the Charelston, SC. I've been doing a ton of research, looking at map, and have driven around looking for sites with little luck. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it, I also have an 8 year old daughter that loves collecting, so kid friendly would be appreciated as well. I travel from Charelston, SC back home to Venice, FL regularly so I would be happy to trade out info. Thanks in advance!

    Oddly shaped Megalodon? tooth

Hi all, I've this odd shark tooth and the seller told me it was a Megalodon, just wanted to double check. It looks pathological if it is a megalodon and comes from a river in Georgia. The size is 3.8". Thank you for your help!
  5. Hi everyone, Here are multiple repairs I just made to megalodon teeth. For some of them I forgot to take before pictures, The blue tooth has a completely reconstructed left side of the root, and a chunk of the blade and enamel are repaired.

    My fifth megalodon repair

Hello all! This is my fifth attempt at repairing a megalodon tooth. Below are all the photos of the process. If anyone has broken megs like this one and wants to give them away, then send me a PM.

  8. Hello all, I was wondering on how to proper measure a fossil sharks tooth. Is it with or length, and is it from the longest points? Thanks for any reply.
  9. Hi all! This is my fourth attempt at repairing a megalodon tooth. If anyone is looking to get rid of any teeth that are broken like this one, don't hesitate to send me a PM because I am always looking to get more teeth to work with. Enjoy! I am always open to any advice anyone can offer on how to make more authentic looking teeth. I am in the wilds of Maine, so it would take too long to post all of the pictures of it now. I will do so later. Here are just the before and after of the front.

    My second megalodon repair

Hi all! This is my second attempt at repairing a megalodon tooth. This one had sever damage to both sides of the root as well as to the blade of the tooth. Overall I am pleased with the repair, except for the rough patches on the left side of the blade. If anyone is looking to get rid of any teeth that are broken like this one, don't hesitate to send me a PM because I am always looking to get more teeth to work with. Enjoy! I am always open to any advice anyone can offer on how to make more authentic looking teeth. I am in the wilds of Maine, so it would take to long to post all of the pictures of it now. A pretty meg

I was skimming the bottom and came to a spot with several big bone chunks. I thought, "There's gotta be a meg here. GOT to." Sure enough. A few seconds later, I stumbled on this beauty. 4 1/4"

    Gainesville fossil material

I've gone to Gainesville a few times and I haven't found many megalodon teeth, a bunch of fragments is about it. Anyways I'm going for a nice megalodon tooth. I'm not asking you guys to give up a spot but what kind of material should I look in to find a good preserved fossil? Like a good size megalodon or a horse tooth or anything of that nature. I have found that the rock rich spots have lots of smaller shark teeth but nothing big. I've seen some people look in a clay like material and find good preserved fossils but what should I look for? I need some help thanks

    Charleston SC

    Hi all, I plan on being in the Charleston SC area next week. I've seen some of the other posts about fossil hunting near where I am staying and I plan on going to those sites and tours. Anyone have any tips in general? Or places near Charleston that are worth visiting. I'm going to be staying at Isle of Palms, which is right next to Charleston. (If this has been posted before and I just looked over it a link is also much appreciated.) Thanks;
  16. Hi everyone, I recently acquired this big megalodon tooth and I was wondering if it is possible to restore a tooth with this much damage? I was also wondering if people had any recommendations on where I could possibly send it to get it restored at a reasonable price.

    Partial Shark Tooth?

Fossil found on Carolina Beach June 4th... Looks like a partial tooth like I have, but just would like another opinion...Thanks!!!
  18. This tooth is from South Carolina, and it doesn't look like any of the species i am familiar with. It seems like the root is way to big for it to be a meg.
  19. Hi Everyone, I have been collecting fossil teeth for a couple of months and I have noticed that all of the hemipristis teeth I have collected have complete and sharp serrations on them. However, the teeth of other species that I collect, such as megalodons, do not tend to have complete and sharp serrations. Does anyone know why hemi teeth tend to keep all of their serrations despite the millions of years of wear and tear?
  20. Hi, I keep most of my shark teeth in riker cases, I love the way they look and the protection they provide. My larger megs don't fit into the cases I use so I need a bigger case. Does anyone have a suggestion on what dimensions I should be looking at to house larger megs? I'd like to display a few in each case. thanks, russ

    Memorial Day Meg

Howdy everyone. I had the good fortune to get out yesterday and stumbled across this guy. It is a 3.7 incher. I wish everyone the same good luck on this Memorial Day weekend
  22. So, it was a little rainy yesterday, but Forum member @addicted2fossils and myself were dying to get our fossil fix. We decided to take a drive over to some dirt roads that the county uses shell pit material on. Usually we can find a couple small shark teeth and a ton of marine invertebrates that we believe are from the Caloosahatchee formation....and occasionally, we get lucky and find something a little larger. This, by far, is the most "staged" looking video I have ever taken since you can't really see much of the shell material around the tooth.. A few people on social media are convinced we bought a tooth and threw it down for the video But, this is where the little megalodon tooth was when I saw it. I suspect it survived because it was in such a sandy spot. A couple modern chips on the tooth make me think it has been run over quite a few times. This isn't my best or biggest tooth, by far, but it was a blast finding it on a random terrible looking road. We had a ton of rain.....and we are going straight back to these roads to put in a full day of driving around very, very slowly with our heads out of the window. With some luck, we'll have some more video tomorrow.
  23. A friend posted these pictures on FB of a successful hunt Brian and I had in the creek about 2005. Sadly my friend Brian has passed and those days are now cherished memories. Brian was the King of great whites and it was an honor to sling a shovel with him.
