I found a couple of these in Central New Mexico. This flash is unlike anything I have seen before. The silver is a bright, clean sheen.

I turned up this rock in one of our vegetable gardens in 1989. Schuyler County, New York. Seven miles southwest of Watkins Glen, out in the country. There is a small amount of iron ore present, which shows brown. Enhancing images brings out the presence of sulphur, which is the yellow. Majority is an unknown blue-gray rock. This is quite heavy for its size. Very hard. Uneven fracture. Streak is gray. The most unusual aspect is that when you tap on it with a fingernail, it has a very distinct metallic 'tink' sound. I broke a couple of small pieces off one end to see what it looked like inside, but the camera does not fully capture the metallic look. The sparkle shows up looking white. Any ideas? This is the only rock I have ever encountered that sounds like metal when you tap on it with a fingernail.

I am unsure if this is where I should be posting this--if it's not the correct page, please let me know! I was given this as a gift. Unfortunately, I am not sure where it came from. Does anyone know what mineral this is?

Can you help with this please...really shiny silver metallic. Picture doesn't do justice. Leaves silver speckles on hand and has a bunch of tiny maroon stones in it. Thank you in advance

Found this rock on the shoreline ofLake Michigan. I'm posting it here in the fossil forum because it is a rock. I'm figuring the fossil guys would know if it might be a meteor fragment or perhaps something else. Also, i don't belong to a meteor fragment forum. It appears that the metallic content embedded in the rock has produced an orange rust like color on the rock. This color caused me to pick up the rock and carry it home. I have more pictures.

Found this, and a ton more, with my daughter over the years. Found this on Lake Michigan, near South Haven - Coldwater Shale Formation/Mississippian/Devonian There are lots of braciopods, from what I can see. Some having an amber looking coating, others having a metallic coating. Can anyone help with this, before I start to polish it (and let me know if I shouldn't). I've always just picked up rocks and coral fossils at the beach, and just now have really started to get curious....so I'm new to this, forgive me if I've missed anything. There are some close up shots, with a tootsie roll for scale...only thing I could find lol.
