  1. Nautiloid

    Madison County meetup

Hello all! Today I met up with my good friends @Dean Ruocco and @KompsFossilsNMinerals to collect a couple of Hamilton Group sites in Central NY. The first site we went to was the famous Deep Springs Road site, and then we hit a second location for a little while afterwards. All around it was a good day of collecting, with everyone having success in the trilobite department.
  2. Nautiloid

    Rhinocaris columbina

From the album: Nautiloid’s phyllocarid collection

This specimen exhibits both valves. Collected from the Middle Devonian Hamilton Group of Central NY on August 8, 2022

  3. Good evening folks. I am working on curating my middle Devonian collection using the field guide book by K.A. Wilson. It is very helpful and has saved me tons of time, highly recommend. I am posting below a few of the fossils that I could not quite figure out using the book and was hoping for help. A few of these may be unsolved repeats from past posts. I realize this may be a lot so very much appreciated in advance. 1. Locality Livingston County Two pieces of the same broken fossil 2. Deep Springs 3. Deep Springs 4. Deep Springs 5. Deep Springs 6. 11. I've been posting identified microfossil fauna I've found at the Middle Devonian site in Paulding, OH on separate thread. However I've found a number of immature(?) brachiopods in my washings that I'd appreciate ideas of their genus / species designation. Tagging @Peat Burns and @ClearLake as they collect at Paulding. I'll post different specimens (there's a few) as I get photos taken. Here is the first photo.
  12. Nautiloid

    Pseudodechenella rowi

From the album: Nautiloid’s Trilobite Collection

Although a little warped, this is still an awesome example of one of my favorite New York trilobites! This bug comes from the Middle Devonian Centerfield Limestone of Western New York, and was purchased from a good friend of mine.

    Complete Rhinocaris columbina carapace

From the album: Nautiloid’s phyllocarid collection

This is a nice 3D example of a Rhinocaris carapace, which was found by me on May 14 at a Middle Devonian site in Central NY

  14. Nautiloid

    Rhinocaris columbina

From the album: Nautiloid’s phyllocarid collection

This is a great specimen of Rhinocaris columbina which I collected a couple summers ago. Both sides of the carapace are there as well as the majority of the telson, which is tucked around the underside of the rock.

    Rhinocaris terminal telson piece

From the album: Nautiloid’s phyllocarid collection

This was found by me on May 14 at a site in Central NY. The site is likely an exposure of the Middle Devonian Windom Shale member of the Moscow Fm.
