We just arrived back from my wife's family reunion held in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. In the past, during such trips, my goal has always been to check out a few fossil spots while visiting kinfolk. This trip was no exception. Unfortunately, the weather was trying to be uncooperative so we visited a few museums and arboretums during some of our down time. The Delaware Museum of Natural History was average at best but was air conditioned!!! Just the right size for children (see the T Rex pic) but not truly stimulating for adults. Longwood Garden was our next stop. It , on the other hand, was absolutely WONDERFUL!!!! Beautiful landscapes, festive fireworks alternated with fountain displays at night. A strong recommendation to visit if in the area. My favorite area was the water gardens and some lovely pics have been added to the forum's "Nature Photography" post. Take a look if interested. Here is @snolly50's favorite. One more floral picture that I liked. Next on the itinerary was Sunnybrook Creek. Due to the heat, I thought a wade in the water would be nice. However, upon arrival, I found the creek to be dry!!! So my desire to cool off was shot down. I did spend about 30 minutes in the creek bed before it became uncomfortable. The creek has many minerals in it but botryoidal goethite is the common thing found.

In our cottage in an island there are these big rocks that were dug up from the ground when we first built our house but there is one rock in particular that looks like it may have been underwater at some point and I sure am interested in the possibility of maybe finding some fossils, what's your opinion ?does it look like it may have been underwater? And could this area have fossils? Thanks

Hi all, Looking for some help to identify if this is a fossil or not. It was found in Freshwater East beach in Wales, UK (SA71) over the New Year. It's quite heavy (103g) and stood out as It didn't match any other of the red limestone or grey pebbles around it. Dimensions are 7.5cm long and 4.5cm wide. It is slighted flattened on its side so would measure 4cm. Thought it was a fossiled bone as the ends appear rounded and porous whilst the sides are smooth. Appreciate it might be fossiled wood or mineral too. Any ideas would be greatly welcomed. Many thanks S

My fossils collection with 3D printed drawer compartments

I finally completed the reorder of my collection of fossils and minerals. It is a wooden hexagonal display cabinet of several wood/glass shelf; in the pictures attached I only show some of them. I 3D printed more than 20 custom drawer compartments for the smallest specimens. I decided to go for a modular design, so I can adapt every compartment to the specimen. As printing material, I used a "wood PLA" filament 3D printed with 1 mm nozzle on the Alfawise U20 3D printer. LINK I finally added a strip LED inside the cabinet door and powered it via a USB power-bank - so it is fully wireless. In this picture you can see some of my recent purchases: Two Sinosauridae indet. teeth from Kem Kem One Acheroraptor tooth from Hell Creek formation, Powder River Co., Montana Some Mosasaurus teeth from Kem Kem One Pterosaurs tooth from Kem Kem A piece of Rhinocerontidae indet. jaw from South Dakota Some ammonites, shark teeth, a Flexicalymene ouzregui, a couple of echinoids (I found the white one in a brick!); the Velociraptor skull is 3D printed as well. This is the other side. The big sand echinoid was also found by me in a brick! On the right there's a nice fossil coral: I never seen something similar, please let me know if you know it's name. Three fossil fishes and a nice ammonites cluster with some quartz in the background. At the end, some minerals... Now I only have to finish the cataloging of all specimen. I already finished with fossils, now I have to start with minerals - it will be very looong! What do you think? Do you like it? Ciao!

I found this piece this past weekend. I’m not sure what it is..? Possibly fossilized bone but the consistency is so hard it looks more like a mineral to me? The middle is a beautiful tan, almost shiny metallic color at the right angle. Anyone know what it is?!

This is a gastropod from the Old Port Frm (ridgely sandstone). I know the fossil is a chert cast coated with Beekite rings. Any ideas as to what the black "crinkled/wavy/ridged" coating between the Beekite & the chert might be? The pattern is different from the rings above it. It is shiny black in sunlight. Fun fact: this came from a public park inside my city limits and was perched on a little pillar of dirt after the rain from the weekend!

Hello fossil paleo geeks This is a photo of a fossil, the guy asked me what this is, and he said he got the fossil from turkey isparta, first looking at, i thought it s a specimen from a tree, but it looks also like Pelecypods im not sure what that is

Good evening to all! I have already said that the most bizarre minerals from around the planet can be found in Brazil? This is another bizarre rock that was discovered in Brazil. I do not know what it is, but this black rock, I suspect it's basalt. Could it be basalt? But what struck me was this strange, very bright incrustation that looks like molten quartz ... Sorry for that expression, but as I said on previous topics, I do not understand anything about minerals, and I'm starting my collection now. Thanks for the help and opinions.

A place in the world where you can find the weirdest rocks on the planet? I would say it's Brazil! Here is an example of this, and I have no idea what this might be, but I assure you, it is very heavy. Anyone know what this might be? I appreciate all the opinions and helps. Thank you!
