    Fossil ID

I have just come back from a trek across the Sahara Desert to raise money for charity and I found this for my 7 year old who wants to be a geologist. Can anyone help identify what it could be please?
  2. About half an hour ago, I bought a Spino tooth from a shop filled with many random things near my holiday property. I just noticed this tooth has a white chip in it and it led me to slightly doubt if it is real. I think it most likely is real.
  3. Hello everyone:)! I recently learned about this forum from someone else,There is a very good communication atmosphere here. So I want to show here my collection of fossils (and a few mineral specimens). (My English level is not very good,Therefore, I may often use translation software to support my speak.)
  4. Hi, Can anyone help me with ID of these Moroccan phosphate beds shark teeth? Scale is in CM. Thanks in advance.
  5. Hello everyone! Final thread for today. I'm going to start posting fossils individually, to gain more traction on the forum. I'll post a few fossils I am worried are fake or composite today, then repost any fossils I have yet to receive identification for with higher-quality images in about a week. Anyways, I purchased this Zarafasaura oceanis verterbra, which was labelled as 'Plesiosaurus mauritanicus', from a museum reasonably cheaply. It looks and feels real to me, but I feel a bit paranoid and would like a second opinion. Do others on the forum think that the verterbra is real? Thanks for all the help!

    Plesiosaur or polychotylid jaw?

Here's a partial jaw for sale. Seller doesn't know where in Morocco it's from but it's listed as a plesiosaur jaw. Could it be plesiosaur? I wonder if it's croc @pachy-pleuro-whatnot-odon
  7. The tooth shown below is supposed to be that of a Rebbachisaurus garasbae. However, insofar as my understanding goes, most sauropods of the superfamily Diplodocoidea have rather peg like teeth. Based on my limited knowledge of sauropod teeth I'd be inclined to place this as a titanosaur. Am I right in my assumption? Thanks in advance for any guidance Othniel
  8. Hi everyone, I found this really weird fossil from a fossil tooth display set of prehistoric fish and reptiles that I bought from the National Maritime Museum of China. It says that it belongs to Cretalamna appendiculata, but I searched it online and found out that the teeth of Cretalamna appendiculata looked really unlike what I have. Does anyone know which creature does this piece of fossil belong to? P.S. The display set says that all the fossils are from the phosphate mines of Morocco Picture one is the piece of fossil that needs identification Picture two are tooth fossils of Cretalamna appendiculata
  9. Hello, I am a new fossil collector and have recently stumbled upon an Andalusiana trilobite for sale online. I have made the purchase before reading the numerous posts on here about Andalusiana trilobites and the prevalance of fakes. I am afraid that the trilobite I have purchase might not be genuine. The trilobite is on its way to my house. I have attached some pictures that the seller has posted on the listing. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Siroccopteryx?

Hi, just making sure this is what it is described as. The seller says it's a pterosaur (specifically Siroccopteryx) from the dinosaur age Kem-Kem beds of Morocco. And is 1.46" in length.

    Is this a raptor claw?

Nice to meet you all at TFF. Please tell me if this is a raptor claw from Kem Kem in Morocco.
  14. Hello, I am a novice collector and have only just begun collecting fossils. Was on a lookout for a Spinosaurus tooth and managed to chance upon one in a bookstore. I bought it and brought it home, and upon closer inspection the tooth looks kinda plastic-y. Understand that some restoration is unavoidable in most fossils, and am just trying to ascertain if the tooth is genuine. Would greatly appreciate any help. Thank you.
  15. I always have trouble telling if jaws are real or manufactured. As far as I can tell this looks real (but incomplete). Let me know if I'm missing something. Looks like there's some bonus verts in the matrix as well.
  16. Hi everyone, I saw a claw from the internet. But I never see something like it. May I know that is fake or real, please? Thank you
  17. Hi there members of this forum! Made the mistake(prety probably) and impulse bought this piece, which went by the name: "Mosasaur Dinosaur Jaw Teeth fossile" Im not shure it said from Morocco, but most stuff in the shop was there,so this one is probably i guess... Well now im kinda shure its "Jaw" section is made out of 3 pices,so im not shure if the rest is allso "legit". (I hope at least the theeth is real) So if any of you great fellows can help ID this.(Probably turns out to be some dessert folkart:) Sorry for the meh cellphone pictures ,and thanks in advance!
  18. Hey, So I was just reading about radioactivity in fossils and I'm paranoid. I just got a smallish (8 inches, by 6 inches matrix) from the Moroccan phosphate beds. How likely is it to be dangerous? And how best should I store it?
  19. Wondering if this is a Sauropod partial scapula from the Kem Kem. It is 28cm long and by the looks of it, I do believe it is from a scapula but not sure if it is indeed from a Sauropod or a crocodyliform. Thanks.
  20. I was curious if this tooth has been repaired or anything weird. Seems like it might have been broken and glued back together. I'm a bit curious about the shiney look and dark speckles on it. Does it seem like they put a coating on it and the speckles are matrix or miscellaneous 'dirt'? For the price I am offered it at I know it's not going to be perfect. Just wanted to see if anyone saw any red flags or weirdness.

    Fossil croc jaw?

I bought this a long time ago. The seller only said that it came from Morocco and was in the Cretaceous period. I guess it might be a crocodile jaw?

  23. Hi Everyone, I'm new here and relatively new to fossil collecting. Today I bought this Moroccan Mosasaur jaw in matrix and I am 99% sure it is fake. I was hoping to get the groups opinion on its authenticity or lack thereof. Please refer to the included pictures. Thanks for your help! -AWT
