Hi I bought this tooth once. Is it a basilosaurus tooth? As far as I remember, it comes from Morocco. Thank you in advance for your help. Best wishes Daniel

Can anyone help with IDing this as a potential spinosaurus bone? It’s from morocco, which I know is the appropriate place, although I don’t know what site it’s from, but assuming it’s from the correct place, can anyone tell if this could be spinosaurus? I feel like the color seems a little weird for being from Kem Kem, but I don’t know any more than just what I always see that is apparently from Kem Kem, is generally a different color. Thanks so much for any/everyone who responded and could give any info on the subject!

This was given to us recently. My opinion (as a complete newcomer) is it is a piece processed for mass market from Morrocco, although the client who gave it to us says he got it from Madagascar.

These came with only vague data: Sahara Desert, Morocco. They are apparently three species of Cerithioidea. A similarly preserved gastropod (a stromboid) with a carnelian shell that I came across had good data: (late Cretaceous (Maastrichtian), western Sahara Desert, Dakhia Region, Assa, Morrocco). They have fine white silica sand with silica cement infill and attached, making cleaning very difficult. Any help would be appreciated.

How were there so many mosasaur species in the same place? Niche partitioning. This one looked like a gharial with long interlaced teeth. https://phys.org/news/2020-10-paleontologists-species-mosasaur.amp

Would like to get some opinions on this kem kem tooth. It's just under 1.5", would be a hair longer but the tip is missing (faked with matrix). There are 4-5 serrations per mm on the mesial edge and about 2-3 serrations per mm on the distal edge. Opinions?

Hello, I've read some topics on this forum about how to recognise fake trilobites. These specimens I received as a gift so I don't know how much was paid for them but I think some parts are 'fake' or composits. I don't even know the names of these cuties. From the second piece I found that the eyes were made of resin (I heated up a needle and scratched a bit).

Hello, I bought this small tooth for 65€. It is labeled as Deltadromeus agilis but since a skull is still unknown i doubt this. I still bought it cause it is well preserved and the serrated edges are beautiful. I would label it "abelisaurid spec. indet." Or maybe a juvenile carcharodontosaurid? I'm curios for opinions.

Trilobites Line Up To Show Complex Social Behavior 480 Million Years Ago
Scylla posted a topic in Fossil News
I would have thought this was a faked fossil if I saw it for sale. Line of trilobites indicates social behavior. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/10/17/science/trilobites-fossils-marching.html- 4 replies

I bought this morrocco Trilobite from an antique shop recently, and I have had a tough time identifying it. I believe the cephalon might be broken, so that complicates matters. Any help would be appreciated.

I will post some photos here. These are not my best trilobites and I am limited for space, so I will probably have to let these go at some point. One reason I haven't got around to researching them yet. Still it would be good to have definitive ID. I have my own ideas but would be good to see what you guys think.

Posting this a few days after driving four hours down to Tennessee and picking this bad boy up! It’s definitely the center piece of my collection thus far. Also want to say a quick thank you to all those who helped ensure the authenticity of this piece! Wasn’t about to pay all that money without being 110% sure! I did manage to come at the right time though, the shop offered a 20% post Christmas discount which helped a lot also, any opinions on the "bite mark"? I'd be more than happy to upload more photos if needed!

i don't know much at all about Cretaceous crocodiles other than there were a ton of them. From what I hear, so many it's difficult to ID even if you have a good amount of an animals fossils, unless it's one of the number of very unique looking species that have a clear signiture. Sadly I'm guessing this fits into the former;difficult/near impossible to ID from just this. *Its a Cretaceous species, from the second phosphatic layer of the phosphate mines in the suburb of Khouribga, Morocco.

I have a tooth of a spinosaurid from North Africa. These are pretty common in the market. My question is, can species be told apart by teeth? There are only three species of spinosaur in the area I believe, Spinosaurus (morrocensis?) and sigilmassasaurus, and the baryonyxid suchomimus. Can teeth morphology be used to determine which one? Surely it must at least be able to tell suchomimus from the other two, right?

Mosasaur tooth originally in sandstone matrix, I picked it out. Bought from a store in the northeast. I assume Moroccan, species unknown. The matrix had some other fossils in it in another photo. -

Spinosaur Tooth W/ Possible Restoration
Trilobiting posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
I found this 2 3/4 spinosaur tooth being sold on a popular auction site. It looks like it's been painted to hide enamel peel. About how real is the tooth? -
A mini fossil museum exists within the lobby of the Park Hyatt in Chicago, just off Michigan Avenue. I'm guessing not too many people know about it unless they're guests at the hotel. It's a wonderful display of very large Moroccan trilobites, ammonites and various other fossils from around the world. It is free, of course, because it's in the lobby and a nice diversion if you're ever in the area. Another added bonus is it's open 24 hours.

I have this Ammonite from the Erfoud Devonian period, about 350 million years old. It's been painted by the Moroccan artisans to display better and to cover up where it's been glued together. It weights 12lbs and is 12.7 inches. Can anyone confirm for me if it's authentic? Thanks
