Another Morrocan Ammonite?
elsmotro posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hello people. This is my first time here. I have been collecting fossils for a while now, since I usually hunt them myself, I had never had any problem. Last weekend I bought this fossil in an exposition, I paid 10,00 euros. It doesn't look carved or too clean, but since I read that "The authentic ones have long been cleaned out", I got suspicious. What do u guys think? Is it real? (I also got a trilobite, I'm going to post it here later.) thank you in advance -
Real juvenile Mosasaur jaw?
crumpet the ichthyosaur posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
I have been looking at this fossil to purchase for my collection and I am paranoid that, like many other Morrocan Mosasaur jaw fossils, this could have faked elements. I was wondering if anyone could spot anything wrong with this fossil. -
I once went to a rock shop in Utah a few months back and they had a wooden box with Moroccan mosasaur teeth in it. Most of them had no tip and kids were messin with the teeth causing more damage. I rescued this one and got the tip to and repaired it. However, I see a similarity of the tooth to one I saw in Kansas that belonged to Platecarpus. Could this tooth be a Platecarpus tooth from Morocco?

Is this a real Globidens Aegyptiacus Mosasaur jaw specimen? As I am fully aware there are many fake Mosasaur jaws on the market where the bone is made from plaster and the matrix from composite sand. I was wondering if any body could confirm this for me?
-
Was curious of what was inside of the matrix that my mosasaurus tooth was in, I'm mostly curious on what the fossil on number 6, 7 & 8 is. I'm guessing that it is a root of a mosasaurus tooth?

Andalusiana Cambropallas Anxiety
Kurufossils posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
For a long time I've always wanted to have one of these trilobites, but they are so commonly faked I get anxiety whenever I consider ever purchasing one which has put me off from them for so long. I know there are obvious fakes but some get very close to real and I have a hard time disconcerning, a little restoration isn't so bad to me if its small part and the majority is real. Below I'm going to post a few pictures of some recent ones that leave me scratching my head. God forbid if these end up being fakes even though I definitely suspect restorations for sure, anyone know where to come acro- 10 replies

Whenever I hear about places in the world that are the richest to hunt, I hear one word over and over again: "Morroco, Morroco, Morroco!" Whenever I search the internet for photos of quality specimens of any number of species at any number of ages, I see the same word over and over again: "Morroco, Morroco, Morroco!" So what is it about Morroco that makes the sheer quantity and quality of their specimens a thing?

So.......I've recently gotten into fossil collecting. It's very addicting, I'll admit. Anyway, I recently bought a neat little Kem Kem tooth that was supposedly listed as a "dromaeosaur" or "raptor" tooth. It wasn't too expensive, and of a decent size and quality, so if by chance it wasn't some sort of raptor tooth, I wasn't going to cry about wasting money. I have no idea why, since ignorance is bliss, but I had a sudden urge to look up identifying raptor teeth and stumbled across this impressive site (thank you for existing!!!!). I am now quite certain that my Kem Kem "dromaeosau

From the album: WhodamanHD's Fossil collection.
Bought online labeled Deltadromeus agilis. -
These teeth were all bought together, I'm guessing they are labeled more or less correctly, but I want y'all to varify. First was labeled pterosaur, so I'm guessing sirroccopteryx? The next was labeled carcharodontosaurus, which I'm guessing is correct. Lastly a tooth labeled dromeosaur, and from what I can gather, these teeth are from an indeterminate taxon? I can take more pictures, just tell me the angle.

Until joining this forum, I thought that the kem kem beds were clear cut and simple in terms of teeth, you have crocs, raptors, carcharodantosaurs, and spinosaurs. I was of course, incrediblely wrong. I have acquired a few teeth from various suppliers, and they are of the kem kem beds. I got these way before I joined the forum and I would like to us your collective skills to get the best IDs possible. This will probably be the first of two posts. first up is a small tooth, labeled deltadromeus agilis, a species of which no skeletal elements are known. after that are two teeth in a lo

Four fragments that came with two other labeled theropod too the fragments. These are highly worn and poor in quality which makes me believe that it could be any bone from any thing. Bought online.-

This came with some other fragments online and was labeled as "theropod tooth fragments". I think it could be that, but there is no way to distinguish it from any other none on any other animal. It's from morroco and is internally porous and quite worn.-
