So i really like the fossils from morroco so i would really like to buy slabs/rocks from morroco mostly the kem kems. So i could find fossils in the rocks myself is there anyway to do that? Should i contact fossil sellers from morroco? Is there some website/store that sells them? And i have seen many fossil morroco sellers that are scammers. Is there any really good sellers i can Contact?

Hello! I see this tooth. It is from the Ouled Abdoun Basin, Morocco, North Africa. I know the Chinanisaurus it’s a very rare Dino. The id it’s correct? Thank you!

I found this trilobite online labelled only as 'asaphus'. I certainly don't think I'll buy it, however, I don't believe it's a species I'm familiar with and I'm always interested in furthering my knowledge. I thought I'd put it out to you guys to see if anyone knows what this is.

1.cretolamna appendiculata? 2.isurolamna inflata? 3? 4 the curved double cusps one this look really cool don’t know what it is though 5 might be too early for this but jaekelotodus trigonalis ? 7 i couldn’t quite capture it but the root is really weird it has two overhangs near the cusps

I had just bought this shark tooth online and was looking at some otodus shark tooth real or fake posts when i realized the root of this tooth is covered with sediments or maybe plaster?Can anyone help me take a look and see if its composited?

Hey there! So I have these fossil teeth from Morroco Eocene, (Khourighba, to be precise), and the one that handed them to me said they are Eocene in age. However, I think they look like Hastalis, an species from the Neogene. Can you please help me out? Thanks in advance!

Hello to everyone! With this post I would like to invite anyone who would like a group travel to Morocco exclusively for fossil hunting in the southern part of the country after the town of Zagora. My ideal period would be between October and November and then again middle December to Christmas. I am thinking for about 7 days. Two days would be wasted going back and forth to the locations. If there is a lot of interest for this, it would be better to create group of 4 so as to be more comfortable in the car. Important things to be taken into account : 1) The law for fossil export of Morocco is vague. Although it prohibits the export, specifically for scientifically important spiecements, it is not enforced. There are two threads in the forum that discuss this matter. 2) Chisels hammers etc must be bought locally and probably abandoned in the country. I would never carry such stuff in a flight. 3) Book flight with one hand luggage and return flight with more luggage. I guess this is apparent. 4) Passport is mandatory but no visa needed at least for EU citizens. 5) Two airports are major: Marakesh Menara and Rabat. I consider them meeting point. The optimal would be to get another flight from those airports to Zagora, but sometimes the later doesn't have flights. The road to Sahara is tiring so any group must have at least two people with driving licence. 6) Renting a car usually costs 50 bucks a day. We may also consider renting atv for small distance. 7) Thorough organisation of this endeavour. People will come from far away and we should prepare everything to guarantee everything is perfect and everyone's needs will be fulfilled. I hope I will find here people with such interest. This large mosasaur tooth was imported from Morroco to China. It's pretty big but I found the root a bit strange, the root looks like it's carved from the matrix, is the tooth/root real?

Hello folks. I purchased this trilobite with the following description: "Split nodule, Asaphellus? Moroccan Trilobite. Devonian era". I prepped it and am wondering if the description was incorrect. My research leads me to it being Ectillaenus hispanicus, order Corynexochida, Ordovician, Dra Valley, Morocco. What say ye?

I just want to share some photos of a Moroccan Andalusian Trilobite I purchased about ten years ago. It's kinda large with the actual Trilobite measuring 9.5 x 7.5 inches on the matrix. I knew before I purchased it there had been restoration work and painting applied. I had always wanted one of these large trilobites to add to my collection but was skeptical because of the many fakes on the market. So, I looked for quite a while until I decided to purchase this one. I used the "common sense" approach that if it looked reworked/faked - it most likely is. I couldn't find what I determined to be an original complete sample on the market. So, I decided to purchase what appeared to be the most complete (to me). I enlarged the photos so I could see the extent of the restoration work and how much of the original trilobite remained. I estimated about 60-75% of this trilobite looked original and wanted to see if I was correct, so I purchased it (photo#1). When it arrived I inspected it and removed all of the orange paint, some of the underlying brown cephalon paint (difficult to remove) and much of what looked to be plaster/filler (photo#2). This gave me an idea of how much of the original trilobite remained, which appeared to be about 50-65%. I detailed the remaining filler and applied several coats of wax to bring out the natural color of the trilobite (remaining photos). I was not disappointed with my purchase because my expectations where set very low, but I was pleased with the results. If you look closely at the trilobite to see what looks natural and what looks restored/fake before you purchase one of these, you can find relatively complete examples (50-60%) on the market that will clean up nicely for display. A collector can tell what's not original with a close inspection. But, if you want one (for a reasonable price) to fill a spot in your collection and for display...…….

More Information On Enchodus sp. in the Kem Kem?

Are there any papers/articles on Enchodus being in the Kem Kem formation? Also does anyone have any specimens they'd like to show off here because I read here that some people have specimens of it, and it just hasn't been described. -

Hi there, guys. So, I recently bought a lot of trilobites from a Morrocan seller. I asked here in the forum for an ID and it turned out one of the trilobites came with wrong determination, so I'm adding pictures of the other specimens hoping you guys can help me get to genus at least. They were all sold as Phacops, but of course, the seller does not have knowledge enough to ID them, and neither do I (probably, even less, actually...). I'll add the pictures below for each specimen. First two pieces I believe it's Flexicalymene sp. Thanks in advance, Juliano

Large morrocan trilobite, real?

I recently bought this large trilobite fossil at a rock/fossil shop in Texas. After doing research I found that their are apparently Alot of fakes out there. The fossil itself has the same grainy mineral characteristics as the rock surrounding it when a flashlight is shined on it. The tiny sandy mineral deposits sparkle. I did a small bite test that an article I read suggested to do and it did not feel like resin. It was very gritty and the same texture as the rock that surrounds the fossil. Please help me if you can. Sorry it is only 1 picture. It wouldn't let me upload any more.

Real Mosasaurus Teeth?

Hi there guys. Received these teeth as part of a big lot. These came labeled as Mosasaurus beaugei teeth from Morroco. Would that be right? Is it possible to get to species by just looking at the teeth? I have another one, a little bigger, labeled as Mosasaurus (Leiodon) anceps. How could I differentiate the species? Hello people. This is my first time here. I have been collecting fossils for a while now, since I usually hunt them myself, I had never had any problem. Last weekend I bought this fossil in an exposition, I paid 10,00 euros. It doesn't look carved or too clean, but since I read that "The authentic ones have long been cleaned out", I got suspicious. What do u guys think? Is it real? (I also got a trilobite, I'm going to post it here later.) thank you in advance

Hello recently i saw this carch tooth but its was said to be form phosphate beds form whats i read chenanisaurus and a titanosaur fossils was found there but not carch whats are your opinions on this tooth would be a carch tooth ?

I once went to a rock shop in Utah a few months back and they had a wooden box with Moroccan mosasaur teeth in it. Most of them had no tip and kids were messin with the teeth causing more damage. I rescued this one and got the tip to and repaired it. However, I see a similarity of the tooth to one I saw in Kansas that belonged to Platecarpus. Could this tooth be a Platecarpus tooth from Morocco?
