Spent the day on the creek with my son today. Could not have ordered up a better day to go. Spring time came to Texas this week and even had to break out the sunscreen. Found some nice teeth and the usual brokes. My son found a beautiful Ctretodus lateral tooth and a really nice S. raphiodon lateral and I to my surprise, found the first mosasaur tooth I have ever found at Post Oak.

I had done a post about the tooth. So the info on the Mosasaur tooth is that it’s from Morocco. That’s all I know about it and if someone could figure out the specific species that’d be great. I also would like to know what the creature was for my other fossils.

What specific species of Mosasaur does this tooth come from?

Currently my fossil collection is made of mostly many smaller sea fossils (if anyone wants to see those as well just ask) My biggest part of it is this Mosasaur tooth that I got in Portuagal. Apparently and not too surprisingly, it was found in Morocco and I'm just wondering if anyone knows the possible species of Mosasaur this could be. Plus one other question. I've been looking for fossils specifically Dino fossils and UKGE seems like a good place to get them but I wanted to ask if the website is safe and trustworthy so, is it? And my final word on the Mosasaur, if you want me to show more images on it for whatever reason, go ahead and ask.

So I've gotten myself into an extremely rare deal- a mosasaur and pliosaur tooth both in the US for a great price. The goodies arrived today, and I might as well show em off. First off, we have a mosasaur tooth from the Ozan Formation of Fannin County. Knowing that the NSR flows inside Fannin County and is also part of the Ozan Formation, This tooth is probably also from the NSR itself. Although the seller didn't have time to do a full ID on the tooth and simply labeled it as unidentified, by extensive comparing with other mosasaur teeth from the area, I can promptly assume that this is cf. Tylosaurus proriger, meaning that after 11+ years of my life, I finally have a T. proriger tooth . Next, we got a tooth that has been sought out for by countless collectors- a north american pliosaur tooth. As with other Texan pliosaur teeth, this one was from the Britton Formation near Dallas. Again, the seller labeled it as an unidentified pliosaur. This time though, IDing is difficult. Based on my knowledge, the two possible candidates are Brachauchenius lucasi and Polyptychodon hudsoni, which both have been found in this area. But as its hard to tell the difference between the two in teeth, I can't make a solid pinpoint. Maybe I'll just be biased and label it as cf. Brachauchenius lucasi because brachs are more iconic to me and due to the unstableness of the polyptychodon taxon. Although not as large as other's tylosaurus teeth, this one still kicks over 4 cm which is still pretty big to me. The pliosaur tooth is just over 2 cm, making it quite small but worth due to its rarity.

So the other day I visited a local tiny shop that sells minerals and fossils, and snagged a Mosasaur tooth from Khouribga Morocco. The label only said 'Mosasaur tooth, Khouribga, Morocco.' Naturally, as the curious person that I am, Im trying to find the species of the owner. After I researched a bit I narrowed down the species to those found in Morocco, yet I had trouble finding one with similar teeth. Globidens and Carinodens were quickly out of the question, since the teeth are rounded and kinda look like mushrooms to some extent, very unlike mine. Yet practically all the teeth I saw for these other Morocco Mosasaurs had slightly hooked teeth that looked thick and heavy, While mine is practically vertical, with almost no curve to it, small and light. Anyone know any Mosasaur species with teeth like this found in Khouribga Morocco..? The measurement of the tooth without the root is 1.4 inches long. The tooth has a diameter around barely over 1 centimeter. Here are species found in Morocco that I had narrowed down to, minus the Globidens and the Carinodens included- Eremiasaurus, Prognathodon-Anceps, Solyvai, Curii, Mosasaurus Baugei, Tethysaurus, Platecarpus, Halisaurus, and Goronyosaurus. ~If you need another angle of the tooth feel free to ask~

Hello! I am a newbie to the fossil hunting world transferring over from rock hunting. I found a few fossils on the Sulfur River yesterday and am hoping to get help in identifying them as close as possible to the original species.

i dont know exactaly but it could only be two mosasaurs eather mosasaurus or prognathodon however i dout it is prognathodon due to the overall shape of it also the tooth is very large it is 2.5 cm tall at the highest point if not taller and about 2.5 3 cms across

Mosasaur Tooth Composite?

Hey TFF, I bought this from a museum and I am not sure if this Mosasaur Tooth is a composite. Would you guys know if this is a composite or not? Thanks guys for sharing your opinion.

I hope I don't offend anyone with this question, but I have a mosasaur tooth that I would like to make into a pendant for a necklace. I have been trying to figure out how to make a "bail" or clasp for it and am considering using an oven-bake polymer clay on the root end for this purpose. It seems that the tooth and clay would need to be baked at 275 F (130 C) for 15 minutes. Could this possibly damage/destroy the tooth? Has anyone ever tried anything like this? Thank you for your help!

I have an issue with the enamel on one of my better mosasaur teeth cracking and flaking off. What would you guys/gals recommend would be the safetest method to help fix and prevent this in the future? I'm afraid I might lose the whole tooth if something isn't done quickly! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
