Short 3 hr NSR hunt between the 35 ft rise and the current 8 ft rise. I had very little area to hunt but still had a great day. The Tylosaur jaw section made my day. My new 4x4 saved me once again when I slid down the ditch while parking.

Not many fossils on this hunt but plenty of artifacts. Did manage to find one good size mosasaur vert and one pristine shark tooth. I ran into a mother hog and her babies, numerous other herds of hogs, snakes and more spiders than you can count. I also sunk in mud & water up to my chest and I'm 6ft 4 lol. North Texas creek hunt.

Real mosasaur jaw from Morocco?
JojoMozza posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hi guys, I'm thinking about purchasing this mosasaur jaw. The seller says that it is natural and it looks very real. Just want to get a second opinion. Thank you so much! Jojo -

Hello there paleontologists, fossil enthusiast, and everything in between. If you couldn't tell this is the first content I've ever made on the fossil forum so please excuse errors and, or inexperience I apologize in advance. Here is my collection of display fossils as well as modern bones keep in mind this is purely what I have on display I keep the vast majority of fossils I posses in storage with lots of support such as bubble rap and various other materials to ensure complete security of precious peeks into our planet's history. If you have any questions or comments feel free to ask as you please. These are all authentic fossils 2 have been directly seen by a professional (Ursus sp. & Unidentified Dinosaur Cretaceous Rib) The Dactylioceras sp. is very clearly a real specimen however there was no authority on it's authenticity the two Hadrosaur fragments are authentic as well one purchased with it's card of authenticity by D.J Parsons and the other was purchased from the very same hunter whom discovered the Cretaceous rib section. (Note: individual specimen content will be released in time)

So the other day I visited a local tiny shop that sells minerals and fossils, and snagged a Mosasaur tooth from Khouribga Morocco. The label only said 'Mosasaur tooth, Khouribga, Morocco.' Naturally, as the curious person that I am, Im trying to find the species of the owner. After I researched a bit I narrowed down the species to those found in Morocco, yet I had trouble finding one with similar teeth. Globidens and Carinodens were quickly out of the question, since the teeth are rounded and kinda look like mushrooms to some extent, very unlike mine. Yet practically all the teeth I saw for these other Morocco Mosasaurs had slightly hooked teeth that looked thick and heavy, While mine is practically vertical, with almost no curve to it, small and light. Anyone know any Mosasaur species with teeth like this found in Khouribga Morocco..? The measurement of the tooth without the root is 1.4 inches long. The tooth has a diameter around barely over 1 centimeter. Here are species found in Morocco that I had narrowed down to, minus the Globidens and the Carinodens included- Eremiasaurus, Prognathodon-Anceps, Solyvai, Curii, Mosasaurus Baugei, Tethysaurus, Platecarpus, Halisaurus, and Goronyosaurus. ~If you need another angle of the tooth feel free to ask~

Dear fossil preparation experts, I recently acquired a series of articulated vertebrae of a Mosasaur in it's original matrix. The fossil is coming from Kem Kem region in Morocco. My goal is not to extract the fossil bone from the matrix. This would be quite difficult due to the fragility of the specimen. Instead, I would like to clean up the matrix to make it look nicer. Now, my problem is the following: In some areas the matrix is quite dense and hard. In some other areas it is extremely brittle (almost like sand). I would like to use this original matrix-sand to repair the matrix in some spots. I was thinking about mixing the sand with liquid (water? glue?) to get a material that I can use for re-modelling the damaged matrix. Does someone have a good recipe for that? Thank you.

Mosasaur donation
John S. posted a topic in Partners in Paleontology - Member Contributions to Science
Last week I donated this mosasaur jaw section to the team at SMU in Dallas. They are working on a comprehensive study on the local Mosasaurs in DFW. They were interested in the replacement tooth. Always feels good to give back and I encourage everyone to do so if possible.- 7 replies

I went for a dig last weekend and wanted to show what I came up with. It was a great day for a dig, the weather has been perfect for them lately. My last few trips were nothing special but today my sifter was treating me very well! I came up with three Mosasaur teeth and this ratfish jaw chunk. I have never even found two nice Mosasaur teeth on a single trip so this was a really good hunt for me. Cheers! -Frank

I rarely sell fossils but my friend in New Zealand told me how much his son loves Mosasaurs so I figured I could afford to let one Mosasaur tooth go. I threw in a variety of NSR / Post Oak Creek shark teeth, small ammonite and a few Mosasaur verts as a bonus. He sent me this pic today of how happy his son was to get the package of fossils. I think he has a fossil fan for life now.

I found these jaw pieces with tooth stubs in them ,I can't tell what they are from (I think mosasaur)

Can anyone tell me if this is a mosisaur tooth or if not what time of tooth it is it was found in the smokey hill chalk of Kansas

I have stumbled upon a mosasaur skeleton (or at least I assume so ) it is in pieces and I have so far found 3 ribs and 3 vertebrae and it keeps going back into the chalk that it is in . It is in the Smokey Hill Chalk formations in Kansas. It is in many pieces each rib is in about 5-12 pieces and vertebrae are mostly intact

Hello! I found this fossil probably 20 years ago in the Sulfur River near Ladonia, TX. I was told at the time that it is Cretaceous in age and likely from a Mosasaur. Is this a Mosasaur fossil? And if so, what body part of the Mosasaur is it from? It looks like a joint to me. It is about 6" wide, about 4.5" tall, and is convex on the "bottom".
