  6. I really need to get some decent photographs of a mosasaur (Prognathodon), and was wondering if anybody knew of any British museums which had any specimens of Prognathodon on display - ideally 3D prepped? I've googled without much success. I've acquired a (very, very) partial Prognathodon skull, and would like to reconstruct it with the aid of 3D printed parts, to replace those that are missing. This would require a combination of 3D scanning (photogrammetry) and digital sculpting (in virtual reality) based upon reference photos. However, whilst photos can be found online, I have found few which are of suitably high resolution and show the various bones from different angles. If anyone has any tips, I'd be very grateful.

    Mosasaur setup timelapse

At the Denver show last month we were lucky enough to be able to purchase a full Mosasaur Haliasaurus Arambourgi skeleton which is 80% original. Last week we assembled him on our dining room table, and we made a time lapse movie of it for your enjoyment: This setup is only temporary. We will be getting a new pedestal for him, and repainting the room to better display him. -Brian
  9. Here is a 2.6" tooth... do you think the matrix is original?
  10. I'm looking for Moroccan mosasaur material (whether isolated bones or a quantity of bones in matrix), particularly halisaurus or prognathodon (will consider any others). [Edit to remove bit where I talk about money, accidentally disregarding the rules of this bit of the forum] Please get in touch if you have anything. I'm in the UK buy happy to trade internationally. Thanks.

    Tylosaur Tooth Socket

  13. Hello all! Made my second visit to the North Sulfur River near Dallas TX and since I am not very familiar with that areas fossils, I have some things that I can't quite ID. I THINK some of them are specific things, but I'm not positive so would appreciate your feedback! I really wanted to find some mosasaur teeth but I don't think I did, with the exception of possibly number 17 which has an interesting "core" of white with the black around it. I know it kind of looks like a baculite, but I do know what baculites look like with their neat little "lego" style sutures, and this one has no suture lines or "locking" attachments. I hope hope hope it is a tooth! But if not, ah well. A really nice man named Bob gave me number 11 and said it was a mosasaur jaw fragment and I hope this is correct because then I will at least have a BIT of a mosie! I am also hoping that perhaps 8. is a turtle shell fragment? And I think that 18. is either a coprolite or a squashed gastropod. I can't tell. Oh, and another nice man named Mr. Cole said that 3. was coprolite. Is that accurate? (I met some really nice people at Ladonia) Let me know if you would like to see more specific photos of any numbered item. Thank you!! Oh, and I figured I might as well post the pic of things I do know what they are... Ammonites and Baculites and Oysters oh my (and gastros)

    3-9-17 Great NSR Trip

I took a long 8 - 10 mile hike at NSR. The weather was beautiful and wildlife abundant. I saw hogs, deer, beaver, hawks, ducks and geese among others. I picked up a nice variety of fossils. I really like the Xiphactinus jaw with replacement tooth showing. I sat down to take a break and found 4 shark teeth in one area. The little fossilized turtle scute is also cool.

    Quick 4 hr NSR Hunt

I only had 4 hrs to hunt today but I still managed to find one large thick piece of fossil turtle shell, possible fish fossil bone, mosasaur vert and 3/4 of a point. Such a pretty day.
  16. 12 hr NSR hunt on a beautiful day. I found a nice variety of fossils & artifacts. My buddy made friends with a couple of copperheads.

    Austin Bone Frag

Found in the Austin, Texas area. Previously a mastodon tooth or gomphothere. I thought Mosasaur at first look. Then elephant cranium fragment. One side has a def. curve with thin outer bone layering. Inward is pitted similar to pitted and highly porous Mammoth cranium I have found. I will slip an all 4 sides photo of the fragment in a second.

    NSR Last Saturday

Haven't posted a trip here in a while, but have had some good ones. These are some of the finds from Saturday. My son and I combined for some nice pieces.

    NSR 3/31, 4/6 & 4/7

What a great time of the year. The spring rains come through and clean up the rivers/creeks so that we can go out and explore and enjoy our passion for fossil hunting. The past two Friday's I've met up with @Jakuzi in our search for anything and everything Cretaceous. Last weeks 5 ft. +. rise didn't offer up much on the fossil side but it did provide for some point finding. This weeks 12 ft. + rise didn't offer much of either. We both found a few pieces but nothing like we had hopes for. We just weren't in the right place at the right time. Either way, it made for a good time in the great outdoors. This past Thursday I was out by myself at a location that Jakuzi and I have hit a couple of times and while there weren't many fossils to be had, I did find some a couple of cool items. My favorite finds are the San Patrice point (black point), the small mos tooth, the semi-flattened vert and what appears to be the 15 fish vert & bones.
  21. Went out to the North Sulphur River on Friday and on Sunday. Met up with @David E. on Friday at Sunrise. After a pretty good rise in the river we were a little surprised to see it didn't really seem to make the difference we were hoping for. But I will say David found some stuff that blew my mind. I'll let him reveal his amazing discoverys. I did find a great bony fish vert, several tumbled Mos vert, and a really nice squali tooth. The second day I returned with my girlfriend where I found more Mos verts and my girlfriend found a killer shark vert. Below is the combined 2 days...
  22. I am looking at purchasing a mosasaur jaw section, what do you guys think about this one? I don't know much about telling if these types of jaws are real, only good at the more obvious ones. But the yellowing between the teeth and their roots seems a little odd to me?
  23. Postponing one planned purchase prompts searching for another, funny how that works Well, this is one I've started obsessing about somewhat, a lower Mosasaur jaw in matrix. I've read through a lot of threads on the subject on here and figured a few things; most importantly, it's not one of the common tourist souvenir Moroccan fake jaws with inserted teeth. It is from a Mosasaur (at least according to the seller and how it appears to my newbie eyes) but others here will surely have a more accurate label. Now, the seller readily declares there's been some repair and/or restoration--- mainly to the roots of the teeth. I am not sure if he suggests repaired roots or ones built "from the ground up" but I've asked for more info and detailed photos of these areas and expect to have them soon. It's a relatively big piece, the jaw itself appears to be around 30" long, and the seller labels it as having been found in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. What do you think? Collectible or do you see too many repairs and/or restorations for it to be worthwhile?
