Have found these at the beach. This is the best picture I can get at the moment. What species of shark are these teeth from? The bigger one is about an inch big. Thanks!

Hi Everyone! Hope everyone is having a great day. A couple things, so my family and I are taking a trip to Myrtle Beach the last week of August and I would really like to do some fossil hunting while I'm down there to get a break from the Devonian up here in NY. So I have a couple questions. 1. I know that the obvious choice here is shark tooth hunting on the beach, which I definitely plan on doing, I bought a really nice snorkeling mask to do a little bit of searching in the water itself. My question is what is the best method of searching for shark teeth on the beach, and what should I be looking for in order to find the teeth? I know there's the sifting method which I will definitely implement, but I would just like to know what I am looking for, is there a section of the beach that generally has them more frequently when tides are low, just some helpful tips, hoping to nab a Meg tooth, but I know my odds are low. 2. Beyond just shark tooth hunting, I would like to go inland and do some searching as well, so are there any rivers, streams, creeks, etc. within an hour of the Myrtle Beach area where I could do some hunting as well? Any fossils at all would be very cool to bring back from the area so I just want to make sure I have the best chances of finding something worth bringing back. Thanks, Hittingthebeds

First tooth is very white. I would assume it’s a fossil but can anyone give me a better opinion of whether it’s modern or fossilized. Mako maybe? The second tooth I’m just not sure on an ID. Tip is broken off. Both of these were found this week in the surf at Myrtis Beach, SC.

Here is another item I found in north myrtle beach! It looks like the tooth of a crocodile or toothed whale that's incomplete, but it also has the look of a claw....or could it be something else?

Hi everyone, I came across this possible fossil while looking for shark teeth. It looks like its definitely not just a rock, but I have no clue what it is. Does anyone here have any idea?!

These have all been found along the Myrtle Beach coast in the last 4 months. Lots of duplicates of several different items. Locals can't seem to answer what they are. Thanks for any help!

My family are new to fossils and have been combing the beaches of Myrtle Beach. I have a few things that we found that I'm not sure of what it may be. I know this is some sort of mammal tooth but can anyone help me on identification?

Hi can’t figure out if this is a rock or something else? Found on the beach in Myrtle Beach S.C. I’m leaning towards rock but would love your input.

I found this vertebrae(?) Sunday, January 13th, 2019 in Myrtle Beach, SC. I think it's mammalian but I'm still relatively new to collecting fossils. Can anyone help me identify this?

Another horse tooth confirmation please. UPDATE: Giant Beaver incisor
PSchleis posted a topic in Fossil ID
I found this in Myrtle Beach. I assumed it was a fragment of a horse tooth. But I can’t find a tooth that looks quite like this. It seems to have far more many ridges and channels than other teeth I can find. Any experts out there that can confirm for me this is a horse and not something else?- 5 replies

Found on Myrtle Beach this week. Perhaps these are steinkerns/endocasts of something? But I can't find a shell or gastropod that quite matches this shape. And of course, they might not even be the same thing. The slight curve made me want to rule out belemnite (except perhaps for No. 2 from the left.) All the belemnite I see online is straight as an arrow. Ideas? - Paula Ideas?

Found on Myrtle Beach. I have never found or personally seen a drum fish tooth before, but after much research, wondering if that's what I have here? I've looked at some photos online but don't quite see any that are so well scooped-out on the underside. The photos I've found look more dimpled than so perfectly concave. So I'm not 100 percent sure. Thanks! - Paula

Sorting my sharks' teeth. Not 100 percent sure about some of these. There are just enough differences to throw me. I used a flash because it seemed the best way to highlight the details. First picture front, second picture back. Thank you!

Ok, I picked up something that looked like this on Myrtle Beach a couple of days ago, held onto it for a few hours, then pitched. Decided it was maybe concretion of some sort. I wish I hadn't, because I keep thinking this one looks an awful lot like the one I threw out. Thoughts? It almost looks like three or four short toadstools growing out of a base (it's not, of course - just trying to explain my perspective.) I tried to get a photo close enough so you can see how the puffy parts connect to the stem (third photo.) I tried searching for ear drums thinking maybe it was something like that, but didn't find a picture that looks similar. - Paula

Picked up on Myrtle Beach today. I've seen stingray mouth plates before and this reminds me of that, but they were always small detached pieces with the vertical lines - never inside something bigger. So maybe this is something else? A piece of shell maybe? Appreciate your thoughts. Thanks! Paula

Found on Myrtle Beach. I've been picking up a lot of bone that is quite obvious to me in its look and texture, but this is a strange piece and I'm not convinced it's bone at all. The only reason I haven't given up on it is because it has two colors - the outside is black, the inside is brownish. Thoughts?

Ok, clearly this isn't a fossil. I'm not a weapons person, but it looks like a bullet. So how about ideas on what happened here? How did it get in this compilation of geological and shell material, was it the heat of friction that caused the "sleeve" of debris part way down, is that a military bullet (and if so, what would it be doing on the East Coast - practice at a military base), etc. Anyway, just found washed up on Myrtle Beach. -- Paula
