I found this mystery fossil eroding out of the Bay Point Formation at a site near Point Loma, San Diego, California in a very densely packed shell layer. I thought it was just an interesting shell fragment when I picked it up, but realized it was something else during prep. I am absolutely clueless to what it is. Any ideas? This here is a very odd partial fossilized something from the Upper Triassic Lockatong Formation of New Jersey. Not to sure what to make of it, it has a dark core atop with whiteish suggestive shapes. Not sure if this is bone, coprolite, plant or what not. Interested in hearing other opinions.

Found this on a rocky beach in Southern California and have no clue what it could be. Both sides are almost Ying yang like. Let me know if you have any clues!

Hi, I received this teeth recently from another forum member and was wondering what others think. These teeth were acquired at a German Fossil Show and were apparently found near the Chinese border. I think they look kinda like Carch teeth. Let me know what you think. The first tooth is 1.1 in long and the base is .3 wide The second tooth is 1.22 long and the base is .5 wide

Hi All, Recently I purchased some Shale from U-Dig, UT. The trilobites inside were super swell, but one of the more interesting finds was this...thing... It appears to be a circular mass, with some veins or something radiating from the center. My hopeful brain began to think it could be a jellyfish, though realistically it is highly unlikely, and I've never heard of anything like that being preserved in the shale from U-dig. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I am at an ABSOLUTE loss. Thanks, -Snag

I’ve been into rock and fossil hounding for a few years now as there are plenty of creeks nearby me, south of Minneapolis. Finding them is few and far between.. but I have a small collection of a specific type of fossil, of which I’m having trouble identifying. If anyone has any ideas I’d be so happy to get feedback, thanks!

Hi all, Need some help with this ID! I found this fossil years ago on a beach in eastern North Carolina and it's been a mystery to me since. The best answer I could come up with is that these might be some kind of foraminifera (maybe of the fusulinid variety, though these don't seem to have the tapering at either end), but I'm not sure how to go about researching other possibilities. My camera has a tough time with close-up pics, so this is probably as much resolution as I can get. Thanks in advance for the help!

I've recently been snooping around Early Jurassic Towaco formation exposures in Northern New Jersey. Although I didn't find much, I found this which looks like it could be something but I can't tell what it is. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Hello everyone, found this mysterious tooth in a cretaceous stream in New Jersey. Haven't come across any similar or anything I can really compare it to, plus its kinda worn. Which doesn't help but the leaf-like shape alone is very interesting, hopefully this one can be figured out.

Receiving this gorgeous but mysterious specimen is from Upper Pennsylvanian limestone dated around 290-300 million years ago from somewhere around Kansas City. Looks like a tooth to me and my best guess would be orodus? But I have little experience with Pennsylvanian shark teeth in general and especially from this area, also cannot find a comparison elsewhere online. Any help will be appreciated.

Ok so i have this tooth for years now.. My dad dug it out in coal mine in Bosnia, and i would really like to know from what kind of animal is it.. i was pointed to this forum so here it is.. i hope for some interesting comments..

This bone was recovered from the banks of a creek full of Cretaceous fossils in Montgomery, AL. All images are different views of the same object. Any ideas?

Came across a lot of glass in the rocks from that area. Most of it was found as small inclusions inside of stones but there were a few stones that had glass coating parts of the outside.

I bought a small fossil collection that contained several Erismatopterus levatus and it also contained several unidentifiable and unlabeled items, in particular this piece. It reminds me almost of a placoderm skull plate, but I honestly don't have any idea. There's area of denticles on the side of the fossil.

Found this oddity while cleaning underbrush at our WPA library in Poteau, OK. The area is Pennsylvanian in age but I’m not sure this isn’t geologic or relic. Any thoughts?

We split open this rock yesterday and it has a mirror image of two things I am not sure of. #1 I see some shell... #2 Vegetation?

These were found in the same place, in black shale, in West Virginia. Are these both crinoid stem? Thank you for your help!

Hi, This question is between categories. Has anyone seen markings (numbers) on a shark tooth like this? I have tried to wipe them off with acetone, and they will not come off. Any idea how they were applied or how to remove them?

Hello everyone. Please help me identify this beautiful piece of history before my dog gets hold of it and buries it in my back yard.....100,000 years from now some future archaeologist will be like “ very interesting - quite obviously a dinosaur fossil but very strange how it lies next to a chicken bone a tennis ball and a plastic object with the word Chukkit stamped on it....must have been some sort of early human ritual.” This fossil measures 6 X 6 inches wide by 4 inches deep. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated - I’m a newbie here. When I purchased this it did not come with any label or info on its origin so unfortunately no context. Hello all. I’ve been carrying this specimen for so long now (probably 25 years or more) I don’t remember where I picked it up. Possibly in Monongalia County, West Virginia or Washington County, Ohio. It is reddish brown in color and weighs 53 grams. It seems to be two things mashed together with distinct outer “crusts” and an inner “marrow “. Any help would be much appreciated.
